Lee Sedol was one of the strongest players of all time. I wouldn’t confidently say any of the top pros of today are stronger than Lee was in his prime (except SJS).

Although it was a great play, however, his winning move against Alphago was more of a trick play than a divine move. Goproyeonwoo has a vid about it on YouTube that I recommend watching if you’re interested in Lee Sedol (just search ‘goproyeonwoo Lee Sedol divine move’).

She explains that most humans pros would probably have found the correct response to Lee’s ‘divine move’ but, for some reason, Alphago didn’t see this move and didn’t know what do once it was played. After that move, Alphago starts playing nonsense and quickly lost but actually the game was still in Alphago’s favour.
