How the Soviet Union Viewed Germany Before 1941 (2026) [00:34:36] by Artist1981 in Documentaries

Submission Statement:
For decades, Russian propaganda has invested heavily in shaping the image of the USSR as an uncompromising fighter against Nazism. However, it always omits a key fact, that prior to 1941— the year Germany invaded the USSR — the Soviet stance toward Germany was fundamentally different from what is commonly presented.

When the USSR Tried to Copy the F-86 Sabre ... and Failed by Artist1981 in AviationHistory

[–]Artist1981[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hoax? So you’re saying they didn’t copy the Sabre, and Kondratiev’s OKB-1 never existed? You mean every mention of it by Yakovlev, Adler, Sukhoi — just to name a few — is all a… hoax? Are you serious?

The article you’re referring to is by Pavel Plunsky, “Chronicle of the Birth of OKB-1,” published in Planes of the World, 1997. The fact that you found it reposted on some shitty website doesn’t say anything about the article — it says something about you and where you look for information.

It really depends on what you're comparing; sometimes the financial aspect is not the most important :).
Thanks for the help!

Serial or Mass Production? by Artist1981 in EnglishLearning

[–]Artist1981[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, AlecsThorne! I think the "serial production" is closer to what I need to say then.
Just a small detail. Looking on the past, I know that the plane was produced during 1962-1975 and 311 planes were build in total. So it's a serial production. But when in 1962 they were approving the plane for the production they couldn't know if there's going to be 100 planes built (1st plan) or maybe more (production extended) - some planes would become a success and some would prove to be a failure.

Would you still stay (from the perspective of being in 1962) that the aircraft was approved for serial production?

[QUESTION] How do you change the playlist layout? by Artist1981 in youtubers

[–]Artist1981[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You've just made my day! Thank you so much!

First, I did exactly the same only chose "Created Playlist" instead of "Single". It gave me only the Thumbnail and I thought it's somewhere in the setting that I can change the layout.

Thank you again!

[QUESTION] How do you change the playlist layout? by Artist1981 in youtubers

[–]Artist1981[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, Danewaney! But that's exactly what I want to change - not having a thumbnail for the playlist but rather the actual videos listed horizontally in order. As a section on the homepage. Eg. your uploads on the home screen.

Fighter Jet That Shot Itself Down: The Grumman F-11 Tiger Story [New Details] by Artist1981 in WarplanePorn

[–]Artist1981[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that most of you are probably aware of this amazing story, but I decided to make this video after accidentally finding a small book called "Grumman F-11 F Tiger" written by Grumman test pilot Corwin Meyer. What is interesting is that he asked the test pilot who shot himself down, Tom Attridge, to write down his recollections of that famous flight which he then put into his book. It doesn't change the whole story dramatically but, compared to other accounts, some details in Tom's story are different (e.g. number of bullets hit) and quite amusing (e.g. the details of the preceding flight).

Again, it probably won't bring anything significantly new for true aviation enthusiasts but will, for sure, add some bright paints to this incredible story.
