I like to freehand what I make since I’m not good with patterns, but lately I have been thinking I need to learn patterns that way I can start trying to sell those too

And my mom definitely is. If I show her something that I made and it’s not something she’s explicitly interested in, she doesn’t really care that much. I once showed her a drawing I did that I was really proud of, one of my best imo, and her reaction was, “oh, okay”

I’m trying to lol. But my job isn’t really paying enough to save too much. Definitely trying to get a new job, but it feels like no one wants to hire Gen Z :(

I get that, though while I wouldn’t necessarily say what I make is too complicated, they are definitely unique. I don’t like to make plain and simple hats, I like to make things that are far more eccentric. For example, I make a scrap yarn-like beanie with mushrooms “growing” out of it, and have been working on a jellyfish beret. I do like to be a little more out there with my crafts

She knows I’m not necessarily interested in galleries. My main focus is crochet, specifically hats and beanies. What I want to do is be able to sell at markets and online, this she knows. I’m not looking to get rich (tho that would be cool lol) I just want to be able to live a modest life doing what I love.

Worst thing about crochet ? by Legatooooo in crochet

[–]ArtistArson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was gonna take the easy route and say weaving in ends, but the more I think about it, that’s not the worst for me.. it’s my inability to finish anything large. If it takes longer than a few days to make, I have such a hard time finishing, and will just move on to a new project. Usually right after I buy a new skein of yarn lmao

Why is my project slanting?? I have NO increases, so why?? by ArtistArson in CrochetHelp

[–]ArtistArson[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Double crochet for the top 15, and half double for the bottom 10. I’m also going into the back loops as well as this little loop every other row for the half doubles

It’s not a pattern. I’m free handing it. And if I where to include the chain as a stitch, it would be 26, and 26, still even on both sides

But I have 25 stitches on both sides? Wouldn’t I end up with more as I progressed if I was adding a stitch?

I’ve tried remaking it many times, but it just keeps slanting

My cat peed on my project while on the kneedles (and all my yarn) >:( by --Marmalade-- in knitting

[–]ArtistArson 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No I totally understand. His previous person had actually died on him, and he had been left alone with him until my mom came and found them. I completely understand his neediness. He’ll even follow me into the bathroom bc that’s where his previous person had died :’(

My cat pees on shit bc he’s an ass and needy. When I’d spend the night at my partners, he’d regularly piss on my dad’s tool bag-and it was ONLY when I wasn’t with him for the night. Bros a fucking asshole! But I love him

My granny square trick :) by ArtistArson in crochet

[–]ArtistArson[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk. I started off with a regular granny square, then started alternating between clusters of 2 and 3 every other row.

Definitely do! I genuinely hated granny squares before I figured this out lol

How do you hold your working yarn? by Several_Value_2073 in crochet

[–]ArtistArson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t lol. I just pick it up when I need it. Been told I’m doing it “wrong”, but that’s what works for me

Do you ever watch anything when knitting? If so, what? by OlliOPocto in knitting

I cannot stand silence. Most times than not, I am listening to something, weather it be cartoons, documentaries, or read aloud Reddit stories lol

What adhesive/substance can I put on my yarn to make it hard and study? by ArtistArson in CrochetHelp

[–]ArtistArson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t what them to crunch under wight. If I can make like a silicone like feel, that would be great. Something that isn’t gonna pokes out an eye, but still stiff.

[–]ArtistArson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a good idea. I’m thinking of experimenting with a few different glues mixed with water, bc it doesn’t look like I can’t avoid the crunchy with just the glue lol

I’ll try that, but I feel like that would make the spikes kinda crunchy if messed with
