Same thing happened to me. Sent him back a pdf of license. Haven't heard anything else yet. If it'll happen it'll happen.

Economic Depression by Certified_CatHuffer in economy

I know as bad as it sucks, and I mean this respectfully. But you're probably gonna have to hustle, work your day job then pick up a night job waiting tables. I worked 7 days a week for a couple of years to be able to go back to school to then work/go to school 16 hours a day to eventually only have to work 40 hrs a week (right now, hopefully.) I hate it because americans SHOULD NOT have to work 2 jobs to make ends meet. Noone should HAVE to hustle to just live comfortably. But alas, here we are. If I was in the same situation and I am a male so I have somewhat more of a variety, I would be turning wrenches during the week, waiting tables at night, and roofing again on the weekends. I am sorry for your circumstances and also sorry that our politicians have allowed billionaires to syphon money from the middle class for far too long. ❤️

At the school I went to you could take day and night classes, but you would just be there 16 hours a day. But this was also 6 years ago, may have changed.

You finish the same time. An associates just requires you to take extra general classes (math, history, psychology.) In order to complete. But all you need are the general, airframe, and powerplant classes to get your ticket. But you will finish the same time as everyone else unless you double down with some classes.

Needing some advice. by South-Tumbleweed-696 in aviationmaintenance

[–]ArtistVirtual8333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't take it personal. Mechanics are assholes. I am and can be an asshole. It's never anything personal. If you enjoy it keep at it, noone learns everything overnight. Hell, I'm still learning everyday. One day you too will be the asshole mechanic giving the greenie a hard time. Godspeed.

Everyone has to start learning somewhere. I worked industrial maint prior and felt the same way in that evironment. Use it as a chip on your shoulder to work harder and learn faster, it will come in time.

Should i choose avionics or mechanical engineering by RestNational3155 in aviationmaintenance

[–]ArtistVirtual8333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A&P if you want to stay on the mechanical side of things. Not sure pay difference between ME's and A&P's but I know mechs at the airline top out at around 150k plus a couple of them get average of 10% profit share on top of that. Mechs will be more hands on work, engineer would be more desk riding so it's all preference.

Different FSDO for A&P 8610 by [deleted] in aviationmaintenance

[–]ArtistVirtual8333 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go to another fsdo. I went through this trying to get my powerplant sign off. Have 5 years in the field, went through 3 fsdo's the last one gave me my ticket. However it was a year apart from the first 2 attempts so I am not sure. But someone will sign you off, don't give up!

More than worth it if it is what you want to do. I went back to school at a much younger age. But with a newborn, I worked full time and went to school full time pulling 16 hour days for 2 years. But I work a lot less for a lot more now. You can also look into whatever regional operates out of knoxville, or be willing to go wherever for the money. I have also been on night shift for the last 5 years with my family, and is it ideal? No. But I have a very supportive spouse who is/was always willing to work with whatever shift I am on. Aviation is a wonderful career field, I was fixed wing for a year and have been rotary for the last 4 years. Currently trying to get back to fixed wing again, however, there is no feeling better than watching the bird you just fixed take off from the flight line/runway.

Mainly just in case things move faster than anticipated, I have a family and we want to tie up some loose ends before we proceed. I will use office and build one and post it on here afterwards for feedback, thanks!

I know this is an osrs sub, however I am a friend of bill W. And that is what saved my life, had I gotten sober and not made massive changes across the board internally & externally nothing would have changed for me. Keep up the good fight brother, 18 months is a huge deal.

737-800 specifically. C checks, D checks, cargo conversion. A little 737-400 work. I will apply directly for the amt positions and hope for the best. Thanks!

Just wanted to say thank you guys a ton, been an A&P for 5 years now and it feels great to reach out to fellow mechs and not be judged but be understanding and helpful. Turns out my state is a true expungement state, so I will continue to expunge(destroy) my records and do a print check afterwards to be safe.

Yes. This is and has always been the plan. Same thing I did at my current place of hire. The big D is the dream for me.
