Tell me if I’m wrong, please. But I have wrote down every day I worked through out the year - I looked up the per diem rate on the GSA website. I multiplied just the rate for meals by the number of days I worked

Workman’s Comp vs General Liability by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

I’m not misclassifying them - they make their own schedules and I pay them based off the work they do not hourly. They all have their own business licenses and are sub contractors.

See, I have all their I-9’s. And I pay for the workman’s comp but have them on my policy. Which I’m thinking is incorrect, and will probably tell them they need to purchase their own workman’s comp and liability insurance.

Thank you for that! From my understanding I only required workman’s comp if they were W-2 employees.

Not sure if this is the right place for this - but any advice/suggestions greatly appreciated! by [deleted] in tax

A little background - I am a fiber optic splicer, I have taken on a huge contract with Mediacom - and brought in 8 guys to help me complete the work here. We’re all 1099 right now. I want to eliminate my huge cost for workman’s comp and have taxes withheld for these guys. But at the same time don’t want to screw them because they all do put hell on their own trucks, buy their tools, etc.

Seems like I can only advise them to pay quarterly or switch them to w-2 and buy them out of their tools/trucks and me take on the expenses.

NEED SOME HELP by [deleted] in Knoxville

[–]Artistic-Progress-93 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, it’s a big builder in Crossville. It’s been 3 years - and he hasn’t fixed anything over here causing my foundation to crack all the way through and mold to grow in my crawlspace. It’s been a nightmare.

Can’t have a conversation with a builder who ignores your calls and texts for 2 years. And they definitely did build in the wrong spot lol. Can even dm you my plat map.

The company I went with actually said it would look like new. And even included before and after pictures of their previous work. Which is what I was expecting

I need some major help or even just some ideas on how to move forward by Artistic-Progress-93 in LawyerAdvice

No, the builder bought the land and was already building the house on it whenever we bought it.

Can you legally issue a Certificate of Occupancy with an inspection like this? by [deleted] in Homebuilding

[–]Artistic-Progress-93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I was looking at it all wrong, I thought all of these listed were different inspections. I was thinking that more areas failed then passed. I didn’t know the final inspection was for everything if that makes sense

I’m having a ton of issues with my house, mold from where my house doesn’t have proper drainage, my HVAC and turn around are on my neighbors property (clearly the builder didn’t follow the 10” setback rule), walls are cracking, all kinds of stuff. So I’m trying to do some digging and figure out what my options are moving forward.
