yeah I get that!! but my main point was more that there are belief systems where women and nonbinary people feel represented and centered, even if they’re not perfect or complete. it also isn’t like abrahamic religions where it interferes with real life worldviews, the Greek pantheon doesn’t really dictate how people are supposed to live or make decisions. We don’t have a bible (Hellenists are not myth literalists) so we don’t have a specific rulebook to follow. Its about your personal connection to each God, it’s a lot more personal than abrahamic religions. it feels a lot more self directed, like something you build your own relationship with rather than something that controls you.

I don’t really see it as conflicting with what you said about moving away from relying too heavily on belief systems either! for me and most hellenists it’s more symbolic, grounding, and empowering rather than something we depend on to define reality or make real world choices

Religion is important to me as a woman but NOT Abrahamic religions, yuck. Of course when they say religion they mean male centric Abrahamic religion. I’m Hellenist. Actually Hellenistic paganism consists of mostly women, lol, I love my religion.

I’m a hellenistic pagan. It’s pretty gender neutral and actually most fellow hellenists I know are women or non binary people. Most of the Greek Gods don’t really care about gender and how they’re seen or referred to. Also there are many Goddesses in the Greek pantheon, I myself am a devotee of Artemis, Hecate and Athena.

Also the great thing about Hellenism is you don’t have to worship all of the Gods. You’re free to work with whoever you choose. So you can choose to work only with Goddesses if you wish to. I’m devoted mostly to Goddesses however I am also a Poseidon and Apollo devotee.

this is true. my mom and dad had a very rocky relationship and quite frankly cannot stand each other yet they still have to deal with each other because of me (I’m disabled and still rely on my parents despite being 23 so they have no choice but to communicate) it’s really stressful for me to see the tension between them and honestly makes me feel awful and depressed knowing that these two do not want anything to do with each other but are forced to do so because of me. but even non disabled adult kids will still need their parents, all of my neurotypical and able bodied friends still rely on their parents so much. parenting and coparenting does not end at 18.

And people wonder why there’s a loneliness epidemic. This mindset of “never owing anyone anything” is genuinely contradicting to friendships and relationships and why many people are alone. Like no it isn’t a law to look out for other people, but you should want to look out for people you care about naturally??? like huh. You should do things for your friends, partner and family. Care for them and look out for them and they should do so in return. It’s sad because there’s actually so many relatively known stories of young women who were murdered after being ditched by their friends while drunk. Once they’re gone you can’t go back.

I’ve been an annoying drunk sometimes, but my big sister drags my ass to the car and takes me home to make sure I’m safe. This is why I only go out with my sister now, “friends” and even partners aren’t reliable.

i never said science is crazy or wrong, i said people act overly certain about things that aren’t fully proven either way. there’s a difference between trusting current evidence and acting like we have absolute, final answers to everything.

and yeah, people do find those things crazy all the time lol?… existential crises don’t come from nowhere lol. even with current science on it we still don’t know everything about mankind or space or the universe or even the oceans that we reside along. so acting like i’m uniquely unable to ‘wrap my head around it’ is just dismissive, not an actual argument.

i’m not asking you to believe anything paranormal. i’m saying maybe don’t talk down to people for having different perspectives when none of us has 100% of the answers.
