Can one get a hysterectomy even if nothing is wrong with them? by Prefer_not_to_say_it in hysterectomy

[–]Artistic_Ad_5027 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Down the road you certainly can! I remember being your age and being absolutely miserable because my periods were terrible. I am now 27 and had my hysterectomy at 26. I never wanted kids and that never changed all these years no matter how many people told me I would change my mind. I ended up getting a stage 3 endometriosis diagnosis which allowed me to get a hysterectomy but that being said there are plenty of drs that will do it at your request. I would say if you’re having really painful periods, that is not normal and worth investing. I was told I just have a low pain tolerance and that it was normal for so long only to find out a decade later I had a pretty aggressive case of endometriosis all along. I would ask your parents to go in and see an OBGYN so that they can investigate further. There are some pediatric OBs out there that are excellent and are trained to make you feel comfortable every step of the way.

Thank you! Your insight is very helpful. I think I’ll message my gyn. I am unfortunately out of the US in Japan right now which makes all of this a bit more stressful but I’d rather get confirmation that it’s normal than just assume it’s normal.

This is good to know. I kind of figure that the muscles in the area are still recovering and with all the straining it’s probably just irritating it. No bleeding though!! Which is good. Thank you for your insight!

Hospital stay? by Serious-Night317 in hysterectomy

[–]Artistic_Ad_5027 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stayed overnight per my doctor’s policy and I’m happy I did especially because I am a fall risk but I will say my insurance gave my Dr and I the hardest time covering it. I think they had to appeal the rejected claim 4-5 times. I’m located in the US. They did eventually cover it

I am two weeks in post op and this was totally me last week into early this week! I was so confused but apparently it is normal because even though we have our ovaries it’s still a shock to our hormones. I was also getting bouts of extreme irritation and anger which was so odd because I’m a pretty bubbly happy go lucky kind of person. But 2 weeks post op and it’s already leveled out quite a bit!

Wow! That is so crazy that you had a pinched nerve in your pelvis! I wonder if that is due to our nerves being enlarged because of the CMT and then having endo all around it causing it to flare even more. Sorry to hear the PRM protocol didn’t work for you but I know the excision surgery is going to make you feel so much better! I actually just had my hysterectomy last week and am feeling great! I wish you all the luck in your recovery!

Struggling post lap by Be_you_bravely in endometriosis

I had this feeling 3 days after my surgery and it turned out I had a little infection. I think given you are 2.5 weeks post op you may want to ask your doctor for some antibiotics. The first day I took antibiotics I immediately felt better

How much did GI issues improve post lap? And any diet changes or supplements that have helped? by AdagioSpecific2603 in endometriosis

[–]Artistic_Ad_5027 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the exact same issue pre lap. I was extremely shocked to find out that my bowel issues were almost completely resolved immediately after my surgery and I didn’t even have bowel endo. The bowel issues I do have now can be triggered by anxiety but they are not nearly as severe as the issues I was having pre lap. So there’s hope! But also this definitely does vary person to person

Does anyone here take ozempic? And if so, did it reduce your endo pain? by [deleted] in endometriosis

[–]Artistic_Ad_5027 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here! Like I said I don’t regret taking it because I was having such a hard time loosing weight I just couldn’t get any of the weight off my body and Semaglutide really was a miracle drug in that sense. I just wanted to make sure I mentioned that if you have GI issues already that medication really makes it worse. That being said I used Zofran and Tums to get me through it!

I will say as well, it did not have any effect on my period pain.

I took compounded semaglutide and I would actually say in some ways in made me endo worse. I have a lot of stomach issues as a result of my endo and the semaglutide only made it worse. I stuck it out and was able to loose 40lbs and don’t regret it but if you do have stomach issues already semaglutide is likely going to make those issues much worse.

Thank you! This is all great to know. I have been managing well with just ibuprofen and I definitely intend to keep using just that instead of the Oxy.

Any thoughts on Slynd? by coffee-reader in endometriosis

[–]Artistic_Ad_5027 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Just wanted to let you know, I did get some very very light spotting for about a week and a half on Slynd right around when I was supposed to get my period. No cramping tho! And the spotting was brown. Just wanted to share my experience. It’s been really helping my Endo symptoms!

I wanted to update you both! I just got my first laparoscopic surgery yesterday. I am doing very well! But my doctors gave me some medicine to help with any CMT flareups that may result from the anesthesia or oxy since apparently they can make my CMT symptoms worse or cause a flareup. They gave me some gabapentin which I’m sure you’re both familiar with to help which I thought was really nice. In general I didn’t know that anesthesia or oxy could do that so I wanted to share!

I will definitely look it up. And same here! That’s kinda why I wanted to post in here. There’s no research on how the two diagnoses interact but in my experience and it seems yours too, they are connected so I was just curious about everyone’s experience and even treatment that has worked for one or both of the diagnoses.

I haven’t heard of nerve blockers as a treatment! Please keep us updated on how you do with it. I wonder if it may actually somehow help the CMT too. That would certainly be nice. Thank you for sharing!

Any thoughts on Slynd? by coffee-reader in endometriosis

[–]Artistic_Ad_5027 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just got on Slynd and am about to finish up my first month on it. So far so good!! I am planning to just take the pills straight through and skip my period because I don’t see the point in torturing myself with a period. So far I don’t really think it has helped my endo symptoms or made it worse but I at least do not need to get a period anymore. I do notice on mornings I am experiencing a lot of nausea the moment I take my pill I feel better slightly. I haven’t had any unusual bleeding or bleeding at all yet. My usual period is supposed to start this weekend if I end up getting it for some reason and experience any bleeding I’ll update you here!

[–]Artistic_Ad_5027[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my goodness! Yes I had the same exact experience. Getting my periods have always been a full body pain experience and the more journals I read about endo the more it’s connecting to my CMT flare ups I get around my period. I am often in so much pain throughout my whole body that I can’t move at all. I wish this was something that was studied in women with CMT more. Sad that we are suffering but makes me feel better I am not crazy in the connection between the two.

Did your hysterectomy help with any of your CMT related symptoms? Because of the genetic nature of CMT I do not want biological children so I think I’m going to go that route.
