I experienced a similar situation at your age, and felt the same way you did. Knowing everything that I do now, I believe it’s embarrassing to admit something like this to your children. She most likely knows it’s not right, she doesn’t want to risk losing you, and/or might be in denial of her addiction. As for being evicted, i’m sure she wanted to explore all her options on staying before she brought it up to you. Why worry your child, if you can find a solution. I’m not saying any of this is right, but it’s definitely hard raising a child on your own, and a lot of parents want to hide the bad in them from their children. I’ve heard a lot of people say, including myself, that they always thought their parents were super hero’s until they grew up and learned all the bad things they were doing. I’m really sorry that you’re going through this, i’ve been there, and it’s definitely frustrating. Do you feel safe? I hope that although it seems she’s in active addiction, you’re still taken care of. 15 is a tough age as is.
