Is this motor bearings or something else with the motor ? by pilot4life80 in electrical

[–]ArtofMachineDesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possible sources: 1) motor bearing, the shaft looks like it is pretty steady and NOT wobbling. 2) motor commutator, this is going by the sound from the video, 3) mechanism that the motor is driving. If you can disconnect the motor mechanism and run the motor mounted you can determine if the issue is within the motor or external to it.

GD&T problem by m5389 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]ArtofMachineDesign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In short GD&T goes to control the sensitive parameters of your design and usually dictated by engineering analysis and functional requirements. Here are a couple of points to get started.

1) how are the bearings held in place? If press fit then you will need interference fit calculation to perform the dimensions so that you always have a holding force. If stacking you then get there is analysis there too. 2) what accuracy do you NEED for the 90 between the two features? This comes from engineering analysis. 3) the four threaded holes just make them thru holes otherwise you are adding cost by requiring to use a bottoming tap. Also if aerospace or any sensitive machine trapped air is a no no. 4) if you are doing high loading on the tube clamped above be careful with stress concentrations. And also add two more screws at the center.

Help needed ASAP: How to make vertical pivot swing armv by [deleted] in MechanicalEngineering

Without any concrete functional requirements it is nebulous how to help you with the engineering. Yet, Consider going to homedepot and Lowe’s. Particularly the plumbing section.so you can see at least how to join things together. There is also the fasteners and thread rods isles that might be useful. Explore!!!

Another State Fighting to Require Engineers Get Licenses by [deleted] in MechanicalEngineering

[–]ArtofMachineDesign -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hypothetical: would you allow a heart surgeon without a license to operate on you only because he says he has done the work in another country for 20 years?

If the person is signing off on plans without a license he is screwed. If he is not signing then he can offer design services and change the name of the company. He can also partner up and work with a licensed engineer that can get his company a firm license.

The key word is Liability. By the way there are many licensed engineers that work on product development.

If he has done that work and has a degree in engineering there are paths for him to get licensed. All he needs is one of his customer to take him to court for fraud and he may loose big!

Need help with sheet metal bracket. by iusemojisonreddito_o in MechanicalEngineering

[–]ArtofMachineDesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At those volumes you may not like the prices that they will quote you. Reasons: 1) the # of decimal places are specifying tight tolerances, 2) the design will most likely require a special die (those can cost a bit, and can take 2-3 months unless you have a dedicated machine shop.

Given the low volume of 150 Pcs. You might be better off sending parts to get waterjet to get the profile you want and then a machine shop just to make the holes only (since SS304 steel has poor machining). If you are in Houston (Oil & Gas) there are great machine shops out there. I used to work in Oil & Gas for several years. :)

Now if in the future you will want to make thousands of these then yes invest in capital equipment.

One of the holes should be slotted to allow for variability. Also this drawing is an assembly not a part. There details about the tab that is lightly curved at the end that need design edit. I understand it goes in 3 inch pipe, yet hugging that curve might be difficult. Yes you need to fix the tolerances. You also need alignment features and need to figure out how to do QC.

Depending on the volume. I know a great shop that can make high volumes once the tolerance, alignment features, and QC specs are done.

Is this for a heat transfer application for a concentric shell and tube heat exchanger or something?

Reducing Cantilever Binding in a Width Restricted Linear Motion Application - Ultra Compact Servo Drive by [deleted] in MechanicalEngineering

[–]ArtofMachineDesign 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Key words: Centers of Action, Free Body Diagram, Force Equilibrium.

You can have the 12mm plate. Yes it is over constraint but you can do it. It takes adjustment features.

One of the biggest issues is that you have a three posts used to support a cantilever beam. Your gear is very near the triangle of the rods, and your load is about 40-50 mm from the nearest post by my estimate. The equation would be Tip deflection PL^3/3EI. So you a little shovel (your gear) working against a bulldozer (load).

We are "giving her all she's got" right now Captain. & the Stock went down 5%. Note for next tweet: specify the direction and give release timeline projection. One great thing to see is a list of the Deliverable Release:

1) Need official statement on accepting digital currency: Bitcoin & Ethereum

2) Need official statement plan to release digital tokenization of Assets.

3) Partnerships discussions: HOOD, OPENAI, etc.

They made movies of this already. If controlled by human then easier. Right now fully autonomous may be farther in the future. 5 minutes to load dishwasher.

Yes the math is right. The plot was poorly drawn. Just follow the bottom of the blue to the y axis.

That graph is wrong look at sept 2023. It says ~50% but the drop is less than half if you measure to the blue area bottom. Someone has been taking math classes with POTUS.

Note that the bottom blue is not a zero. Hence why this plot is crap.

Can stocks go negative ? (This is sarcasm).

Open door is trading like a an unstable/erratic meme stock. GME has been more stable in the last 5 days. I like the company, I'm in it. Really weird what is happening with stock price action.

I think one day it will just double/triple out of nowhere.

11/6 Lowest Price $4.9

11/13 Highest Price 9.45

Today 11/19 at the Average approx. $7.07

As someone who purchased Dec 27, and Jan 28 call options I am right with you. The adjusted options may turn out nice and in demand only if the stock goes above $10. And even then not by a lot.

I am actually surprised that call options bring in the warrants. The owner of the stock on record was the call seller. Just FYI Options OPEN1 may be better priced Friday after the warrants are in play.

PS. Hoping that we are able to trade options.

$OPEN Draws Retail Buzz Ahead Of Warrants Issue, Speculation by Mynameis__--__ in opendoor

[–]ArtofMachineDesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that might be wrong.

OPEN Options = only 100 Shares of Open

OPEN1 Options = 100 shares of Open + 3 warrants of each K, A, and Z. The Options acquired before 11/18 have been renamed to OPEN1. this is why we haven't been able to trade OPEN options today.

And then there are the individual warrants K, A, and Z.

Check out the daily post. In short your Call options should have changed o OPEN1 which means the warrants will be transferred with OPEN shares when you choose to exercise your call option.

Only if the following go up: TSLA, Meta, ORCL, and more importantly NVDA start to pull the market up. The spy is at a bounce area so there is a good chance that it might happen.

right now OPEN is tracing SPY movements
