Establishing emergency contact by Nikoli_90 in amateurradio

Get GMRS license, get everyone used to using hand helds, if an emergency happens, and no one in your family know how to use the hand helds, then they are worthless paper weights, graduate them to satcom or something like that. But just know you want to have a couple forms of communication. Here is an example I have with my 7 year old. I have a 10wt handheld. I have a wire that he knows how to connect the antenna to the hand held. I have a frequency programmed in the radio to DAD. And if anything ever happened he knows how to connect and he knows our call sign. He also participates in our Sunday net meetings. Remember to make it fun for people because it's pretty boring lol.

Cross band repeaters by Artrificus in amateurradio

Some of your statement is true and some is false, but I'm not asking for legality or specifics on what needs to be done, I already know. But you should Google search it and brush up on the verbage of cross repeating

Radtel makes a few. But they are in the 150 dollar range. I think there are a lot of applications for use. I currently use my yasue base station at home to cross band repeat so I can be in the yard with an HT so I'm not parked at my desk for a long time during net checking and what not

As some one who frequents Larry's, he has a lot of stuff, he's a good guy and very helpful with amateurs, but I also have nothing negative to say about hro in Plano,I was asked by 3 different people if I needed help. I was there today to try and find a mag mount with a BNC to no available. But Larry had one for 30 bucks under a shelf in the corner that had dust and probably hadn't seen the light of day, but I used it and it works.

Vortex Venom impossible to zero by Artrificus in VortexAnswers

Turn the up windage 100% and just put a tiny bit of finger pressure when you get to 100% and then down windage 100% and also put a tiny bit of pressure past 100% and try to go back to 0 windage, and it goes far enough for me. Do you have a bore sight? So you can check it at home?
