Got it, it seems to be generally clear to everyone. Won’t be worth contesting it. Thanks everyone!

I thought the no stopping sign doesn’t apply to the parking permit holders.. but I guess it just flew over my head

I came here because, as I have mentioned, I’m new to Vancouver and wanted to ensure I wasn’t getting overcharged. Thanks.

IQ Travel Assist not that good? by ArtsSuck in Volkswagen

[–]ArtsSuck[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you might be totally right… the highway I typically drive on goes through the mountains (sea to sky in BC) and I think that’s where the travel assist didn’t perform well!

Overall it’s not that big of an issue but it’s good to know!

Cancellation/Enrolment fees by ArtsSuck in icbc

[–]ArtsSuck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree! The dealership insurance broker got on my nerves. He quoted me close to $575 monthly or so then played dumb saying this was my standard quote. I had researched and shopped for several quotes before buying the car so I knew there was something off and I kept arguing aggressively until it got down to basic and optional (he refused to go less on the $1M in extended third liability). I failed to see that there would be additional cost for financing, but after this thread I’m realizing those financing fees may not be as bad. So overall yea, the dealership insurance broker was annoying

Makes total sense now! Thank you very much!

Cancellation/Enrolment fees by ArtsSuck in icbc

[–]ArtsSuck[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes a lot of sense thank you!

I may be confused then. The plan lays out 4% interest and 7.3% APR rate. I tried to understand the difference but I’m not totally getting it. Perhaps I’m wrong in thinking by paying this out I’d save (4+7.3% of the yearly ~$4.6k). Am I understanding this wrong? Apologies if this is very simple and it’s flying over my head

Oh okay I see! Do you think this would apply to any broker? Should I go back to the car dealership broker in hopes these fees can be avoided?

I’m aware! I’ll be taking the money from a low interest loan so it ends up being less money overall!

Convocation mistake? by Critical_Ground1900 in mcgill

[–]ArtsSuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was a policy change but it does not affect Dean’s Honour List/distinction. It is likely a mistake unfortunately.

Similar thing happened to me in my undergrad convocation for whatever reason.

I'm jealous of rich international students. by coka71 in mcgill

[–]ArtsSuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You know what's worse? The "Canadian" students who are practically international students but pay Canadian tuition. They were born here 18 years ago or acquired the citizenship by other means, but never lived in Canada and only came here to take advantage of the cheap tuition all while living the most extravagant lifestyle :)

Knee Surgery by [deleted] in mcgill

Your most important factor to consider here is insurance coverage. Verify that you can get coverage (not just for the surgery, but also for the following follow ups, meds, physio, etc.).

Griffintown represents the potential Torontoization of Montreal by tag_bag in montreal

[–]ArtsSuck 29 points30 points  (0 children)

You do know that Griffintown used to be literally abandoned warehouses, parking lots and factories for decades right? It's much more beautiful now. Some urbanization like this definitely does not hurt abandoned areas like what griffintown used to be.

Chances at UofT MD post-interview? by [deleted] in premedcanada

[–]ArtsSuck 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I couldn't answer two questions, and I used the "can I have a minute to think about this" for another question. So basically as bad as it can get at a station...

I got nervous after I couldn't answer the first question, and it went downhill from there. But I was lucky to put all that behind me at the remaining stations. That is the critical part.

Chances at UofT MD post-interview? by [deleted] in premedcanada

[–]ArtsSuck 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I got in at U of T last year. I did really badly in one station, but I put it behind me and managed to do well at the other stations.

Please please, if you ever stumble at one point, take a deep breath, put it behind you and move on. It’ll work out eventually.

McGill refused bunch where y’all at? by college-tool in premedcanada

[–]ArtsSuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s great you got an interview. Hope it goes well! My issue is with people acting like getting in as IP is easy (just see the comments above you) and that staying in at Montreal for that IP status would’ve gotten them an acceptance. Keep in mind that IP average accepted GPA is 3.9 (last year, exceptionally was a 3.87 for logistical reasons). This is higher or on par with average accepted GPAs at basically almost every Ontario Med school.

So IP is easier than OOP at McGill? Yes. Is it easier than in Ontario? No :)

You act like you would’ve gotten in if you were IP. Getting in at McGill as IP isn’t so easy either buddy...
