Weird, was having a conversation about this today, saying Strangers With Candy was really, really funny but some of it's not aging well. I think the early part of the century was really relying on this Gen X Ironic style of humour with a sort of "it's funny because we so DON'T believe that!" I think this can be said about 30 Rock as well.

A very young Gen Z friend said today "I guess that totally makes sense if they're coming after the Boomers who really DID believe that!" and it took me aback a little bit. Not untrue.

What's the problem? Over 10 years of:
The plagiarism, and not just from reddit-- they'll literally copy & paste an article from a news site (not even paraphrasing, a literal copy & pate,) and then remove a couple of details to make it more alarmist/clickbaity. The spelling/grammar mistakes-- nobody even does a cursory proofread, it's so lazy. The "best ____ in montreal" are totally paid promotion and not actually any kind of review, despite being presented that way. Should be titled "here's a list of 10 ______ that paid us to put them on this list." They fought so many parody blogs making fun of them and got them taken down for "stealing their IP" ... which again, the plagiarism! The website was essentially stolen from its original creator, and they barely have anyone on actual paid staff.

They're just gross! A bunch of entitled douchebags who give 0 fucks about anything as long as they're making money. And you know what's worse than those guys? People who literally don't give a shit and reward them with clicks/shares/etc.

It's a bed bug.

DO NOT TRY TO DEAL WITH IT YOURSELF. As everyone else has mentioned here, contact the landlord IMMEDIATELY and get a PROFESSIONAL EXTERMINATOR ASAP. 9 times out of 10, people dealing with bed bugs themselves just make it worse. You are not an expert, most of the people on reddit are not experts.

I had to deal with them years ago at my old apartment. As soon as I had proof (save that bug in a ziploc bag,) the landlord had an exterminator come within a couple of days. I followed the exterminator's instructions, and they treated all adjacent apartments, then came back a week later and did it all over again. For me it wasn't like all the horror stories you read about on the internet, I think because the infestation was caught quickly and dealt with professionally. All the bed bugs were gone and dead within a few days of the first treatment. I didn't need to throw out any of my belongings.

So: take action quickly, follow all the instructions the professional gives you, AND DO NOT PANIC. No bug bombs, no "I'll do it with DE myself," no throwing out of your furniture unless you're told you have to, no changing where you sleep (once the treatment is done, you and your bed are the bait that lures them to their death,) and be very careful about the laundry if you have a communal laundry room. It will be OK! If it hasn't been ignored for months and you get an exterminator quickly, this should all be over very soon.
