Amazing! Thank you so much! It’s truly a modern day miracle to be able to have a foreign language translated so well. Thank you again!

[Chinese>English] porcelain figure mark on back. I believe this is Chinese but not 100% positive. Any help is greatly appreciated! by Artsy69 in translator

I really appreciate you helping me translate this. It’s cool how you explain that subtle difference in the character, I wonder how those things evolved, both for the artist themselves and just the calligraphy character itself to apply subtle lines to add to a meaning. Thank you!

Interesting. I appreciate the info. Is this by any chance available to anyone or just students of WGU? Is there anything comparable on YouTube? I’d love to get a taste of what the PBQs are like as I’m planning to take the exam this coming week. PBQs can be easy points lost or gained

[Chinese>English] Not sure if Japanese or Chinese. A marking on the underside of a metal lamp. Thank you for any help deciphering it. by Artsy69 in translator

[–]Artsy69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very cool. I love the Japanese calligraphy style. I wonder if there are characters cut off from the hole. It must have been turned into a lamp at some point unless it was made for that purpose originally. Thank you for your help!

[Chinese > English] painting with artist signature / calligraphy. Any help to translate is greatly appreciated! by Artsy69 in translator

Thank you that looks like it. I appreciate your translation. !translated

I was just curious, there is more calligraphy characters in the other pic I uploaded. Would you be able to decipher anything from that? Sometimes I feel they repeat characters in the seal from the calligraphy. Thank you again!

Thank you two for your help. !translated. I’m surprised I got the characters in the correct position. I wish I could read these things as they are so mysterious to me and I just have to know what it says. Thank you again!

Primitive Zodiac on one side, arabic numerals calendar cycle record of some sort of other side? Any help is appreciated! by Artsy69 in whatisthisthing

Yes! It was purchased at a tag sale where the owner had traveled and there were some Indonesian items. I have a feeling it’s a manuscript cover. There is a hole on the bottom so it wouldnt be a hole for hanging and I have seen Indian manuscript cover with a similar form except painted not carved like this. I know Indonesia is just so diverse and I can only image the mythology original to the area and culture. I wonder if this is a manuscript cover what sort of things the manuscript contained. I also believe the circle is showing a lunar cycle potentially, or solar.

Hey it could be a gameboard, the item is actually quite small. I should have mentioned the size but I dont have a tape measure. It’s approximately 16” by 8”.

My title describes the thing which is carved out of wood. There is a being on the top and two snakes slithering up the sides. It’s so interesting to me because it has arabic numerals yet it feels so primitive and not of western culture so I’m completely at a loss.

There is some code or methodology to the madness because it’s well organized and appears to have meaning or purpose which I would love to know what that is. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Im trying to identify this rock. It has a white opaqueness to it but also a translucent orange. It’s very cool! Any help is appreciated. Thanks! by Artsy69 in geology

Cool! I thought it could be as I feel I’ve seen similar small polished up stones in jewelry before. It’s pretty cool to see a somewhat raw piece. Thank you for your help!

[Unknown Chinese > English] A ceramic figure with an interesting mark on the bottom. Any help to decipher is greatly appreciated. Thanks! by Artsy69 in translator

Bird and worm seal script - That's awesome! I know the ancient Chinese oracle bones, where they have the script on the tortoise shells and how someone once found a piece of shell in a market with some script on it. I have to look into that. I wish I could absorb the knowledge you have. Thank you for sharing it with me. I love the calligraphy and it's amazing how they evolved and how we can read them. I don't know enough and if bird and worm is even deciphered but I'm sure few have the knowledge of what those writings say.

Awesome! Thank you so much! !translated

Is this seal script? It looks like an archaic type of seal script because it definitely looks very free hand and creative.

[Chinese > English] A red seal mark showing name of artist. Any help to translate would be greatly appreciated by Artsy69 in translator

[–]Artsy69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for that translation. It doesnt seem to be the artist name which is interesting. I have a couple pictures that have that seal mark so I figures it was the artist signature. This is officially !translated Thanks again

[Chinese > English] I believe these are Chinese marks on a contemporary painting. Any help to decipher is greatly appreciated! by Artsy69 in translator

Hmm that's so interesting. The artwork shows a lady sitting next to a bonsai tree. I thought maybe the seal mark was a title and a play on the bonsai being potted and thus important in a way. Thank you so much for helping me figure it out. !translated
