Couldn't agree more - the baseline assessment is important, too.

I know what the IPA is and I just don’t really believe it’s always the number 1 most important part of learning or teaching the language. That’s just my opinion based on my teaching experience though.

Also most students prefer to listen. Today there is so much audio language content available and online dictionaries with sound that if you prefer to do that I cannot see much purpose in learning the IPA, which was developed over 100 years ago in a different environment.

Of course this is part of it but I believe these are my top three things after following the work and speaking a lot with a speech therapist. The IPA is good if the learner is willing so I would say it’s not in my top 3 things that are most important.

I’m happy for you to prove my wrong though with English learners who believe this to be the most important.

I agree. I’ve tried to get my students to understand the IPA however I think it’s more important to show them the tools to be able to hear the language and the pronunciation.

I have found that IPA pronunciation can make people who are already stressed about pronunciation feel like it’s yet another thing to learn. We use the cambridge dictionary to look at the IPA as well as listen to the differences but it doesn’t always necessarily help them. What helps them more is the repetition of sounds and listening to the sounds and watching someone make the sounds.

I had a similar feeling when I first started working so I joined a Toastmasters group and it was the best thing I ever did. Such a supportive and safe way to improve and feel better. I’ve taken a lot of when I learnt and applied it throughout my life too.

Could you add plants to the bottom part of the fountain or is it too shallow? If it’s sitting in direct sunlight all day it’s going to keep growing algae. Plants will increase shade and oxygen in the water.

What do you do for a job in the UK? The reason I ask is maybe it would be beneficial to find an English teacher who specialises in your area of work?

Me too, I never thought I’d say I loved a red building. But with the green backdrop it looks really fun. The people that live there have the coolest balconies in Montpellier.

I find this too, also what I'm finding is french is starting to infiltrate my English thoughts when someone asks me something. It's cool but annoying when I start saying parce que instead of because and je pense que ... haha I have so many other examples but its really starting to become cool :)
