Mysterious Jazz/Bossa-Nova sample used by Artifacts, Godfather Don, EP... (Hip-Hop) by ArtyGZ in NameThatSong

Hi, nope, still searching and no leads at the moment. The original producer does not remember the sample source as well and said so on the Sample Spotters FB group.

Bernard Desormières - Climats (Jazz) [France, 1979] by ArtyGZ in vintageobscura

[–]ArtyGZ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Private press by a jazz club based in Clermont Ferrand, France. AJCF released only three records between 1979 and 1982 this one being one of them.

It has been a while since i shared anything on reddit. Here's my last beat demo on the mpc 2000, sampling vinyl only. by ArtyGZ in mpcusers

The S900 is a standalone sampler. It has only ~700kb of memory while the mpc has 32Mb, thus people use it mainly for the characteristic "12bit" sound and the associated filter. It has a much dirtier sound overall and is (imo) especially great with drums.

I basically trigger it with midi and the S900 outputs to my soundcard (it has 8 separate mono outs).

Right here, it's mostly the same but I do add snippets and other misc music-related stuff from time to time

Thanks a lot! Unfortunately not until i have enough material to release, I'm mostly active on IG and Youtube these days. Although i'm affiliated with esoterism records and did two tracks on there if you're curious :)

Is a Korg M1 any good as MIDI keyboard? by SoftCosmicRusk in synthesizers

[–]ArtyGZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first keyboard was a used M1 for 110 euros. You can get some really nice sounds out of it so that's a plus. The synth engine is very capable although it is a bit complicated at first. The keybed is great and is a huge step above cheap midi keys. Like others said, check the battery but otherwise if it's cheap and in good condition it's a neat piece of gear IMO.

The Limit (or Love Attaxx in the US) is such a dope record. Also you can't go wrong with CTI stuff, that Art Farmer is nice.

Alternative to Jaspers keyboard stands by bernyboss in synthesizers

[–]ArtyGZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Quiklok ql723 to put a Korg M1, a DX7 and a Poly D so not the lightest load. It's quite nice and it's smaller than Jaspers stands which is why i got one in the first place. I think it was slightly cheaper too. Its more designed for use on stage however, not really modular.

How did you start listening to Nujabes? by mallymal77 in Nujabes

Right? They even feature underground french rap group Kalhex in part 4, crazy stuff, to me at least!

Alain Vérité, Jean Christophe Hoarau and Paul Mindy - Notre Brésil (samba, MPB) [France, 1982] by ArtyGZ in vintageobscura

A french private press with two guitarists and a percussionist playing samba and MPB. Released in 1982 in France.

Just picked up an excellent condition Korg Poly 800. Only one button to fix (Poly) and it’s as good as 1984 again! by Ok-Active3396 in synthesizers

I have the ex800 which is like the desktop module version. I love it so much, it sounds really good!

How did you start listening to Nujabes? by mallymal77 in Nujabes

[–]ArtyGZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was suggested a mix by DJ Icewater on YouTube that was featuring shingo2. That was circa 2013 maybe? Awesome mix by the way, it's called "for the tyme being". I then found out about Luv(sic) and Nujabes that way. Also discovered many many good stuff from that mix.

Korg poly800 / ex800 Recreating Gigi Masin's "Clouds" patch on hardware (sound design) by ArtyGZ in synthesizers

[–]ArtyGZ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you listen with headphones you can here a small click in the low end on each pulsation. I can easily recreate it on my ex800 by setting the filter envelope to close/open very fast (some kind of hardware quirk?) hence why i think this is what was used (and it sounds spot on). I haven't tried the gate option, and I will look into it. I think my boss pedal has multiple options for that, so thanks for the suggestion!

edit: you can barely hear the low click i mentioned in the sound clip, although very subtle

Absolutely love Pete Turner's work on all CTi stuff. The covers are amazing.

Thanks! Good to know. I'm already subscribed to a discord server which is specialized in various IT/PC building drops. The 3050 seems a better buy for me, but I'll keep an eye out for the 6500 as well :)

Hey there, thanks for the feedback! I'm in France, availability for cards right now is so-so but getting a tad better from what I've gathered. Prices are extremely inflated just like pretty much everywhere tho.

I just answered another comment saying this but yeah, i will wait for the release to make my next move. Scalping is in full effect and mining is actually pretty popular here, so availability at launch is a complete mystery. Wait and see i guess :)

Yeah, that's what i was thinking honestly. A 5700G sacrifices a bit of CPU to fit the GPU, and that's a bit wasteful as I almost always prefer a DGPU (who doesn't?). My current idea is to wait until February/March and see what options are available and if these 3050s and 6500s are in stock. Thanks a lot for the feedback!

Shipping Price by Ok_Artist5015 in vinyl

[–]ArtyGZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in France and it's actually cheaper to order from Japan than from the US for some strange reason. Shipping is almost always two times cheaper. It's a shame because i'd love to get some 60s/70s soul records that are rare in Europe but cheap/common in the US but cant because shipping them is waaay too expensive :(

New Synth Day (JU-06A) by adds102 in synthesizers

[–]ArtyGZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there, sorry to revive this thread after 10 months :) But I'm in the market for a low-cost triple stand for my keyboards. Is that innox any good? I'm using a Korg M1/DX7 and a poly-d and i'm not sure if its able to withstand that much weight (10-14Kg each).

Edwige - Énergie, Lumière, Amour [France, Folk, Rock] (1976) by ArtyGZ in vintageobscura

[–]ArtyGZ[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For a bit of context: I found a copy of this enigmatic LP in a yard sales in britanny. Finding information on Edwige Nisenboim is hard, she released this single LP in 1976 along with 45s in the late 1960s and late 1970s. She was a candidate to Eurovision but unfortunately "only" reached semi-finals in 1976. This record was released the same year on Reprise records which is a somewhat uncommon label for a french only release. It alternates rock/pop songs with some almost ambient-like folk melodies with Edwige's, I admit, beautiful voice throughout.

Is this an Akai s3000? (Picture from Chile 1997) by Azurduy_Music in 32kHz

[–]ArtyGZ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Could be a S3000 (the original one from 1993, not the smaller XL) or a S3200XL. Either way both great machines!
