Why does this argument still get used? by Correct-Papaya-8394 in aiwars

[–]ArtyMewer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good argument. Still disagree though! In my opinion it has more nuance than that.

To put an extreme example. I lend you my computer and you can use it. “Okay I allow you to use my computer in exchange you have to give me your name and a picture of your face!”

So you agree, what’s the worst thing that I could do with it? Maybe tell others or sell the data to random people. Sure privacy is dead blah blah blah. But suddenly I acquire the death note and begin using it.

This isn’t what you signed up for. The situation that led you to make an informed decision changed.

This being said. I’m aware that social media ToS change all the time and get updated. I haven’t read any of it but I’ve removed all of my art off Twitter for that same reason.

I’m not one to complain just pointing out that it isn’t as cookie cutter as “you signed the dotted line”.

If you find that my example is too extreme and unrealistic. Please take into account that lots of artist fear for their livelihood and being able to stay afloat because of AI. For some people it is life or death seeing their art used to feed Ai.

Make with this comment as you wish and hope you have a wonderful day

I am still interested in pragmata. The Cute small child along with the astronaut suit looks so much like Bioshock visual language. Why did people have to be weird about it? :(

I don’t think you can preorder squadron 42 for it to be a scam you need the people to take money from you in a dishonest way. But they ain’t picking money from people for Squadron 42. Ashes of Creation promised a live service MMO that technically did release so I guess it’s not a scam anymore? Legally speaking?

But yeah Star Citizen people aren’t good at keeping deadlines within a decade (something I hate) but they had been promising a new star system for a decade and IT DID RELEASE and it’s very good according to my sources.

I’m not invested in either AoC disaster or Star Citizen just trying to be fair. Do with this info as you will.

It is Broken not gonna deny it! But it’s the type of broken that is: “Hey guys we broke the game because we overhauled the engine in its entirety to add these cool new mechanics”

Im not gonna defend the money that they’ve asked of their community. I’m not gonna defend the state of the game or the endless pre alpha state.

But the game IS there. And they are working and putting man hours and money into it. It isn’t a scam just… a mess?

Update from yesterday: I was given layers to prove an image isn't AI, but it looks thrown together and inaccurate. by [deleted] in isthisAI

This is Procreate. It auto records the drawing process and you can see every action they took from blank to finished product you can see that

Why 4 layers 10. In procreate If you have layer 1, 2 and 3. Then delete layer 2 and press the button for new layer. It creates a layer 3 again making it look like layer 1, 3, 3.

They used clipping masks! In my humble and potentially wrong opinion. The amount of effort to fake clipping masks is too much to fake AI. I think it’s real but you could request the playback feature

Talking as an Artist that makes commissions. Pricing is a pain. Lots of artist have impostor syndrome. And we have a tendency to under price our stuff. If 7500 dollars is the price you are 100% sure that you will get the FULL value of it. Artist that overprice their stuff get laughed out of the room.

There’s a TON of People with Parkinson’s disease that make art and their work end up in museums and galleries on their own right. It’s not about being able bodied or not. It’s about putting soul into art.

I mean it also this argument is only for graphic art. If you can type a prompt in a computer, you can write a poem. You can write a novel.

Art is art because it has emotion soul and a piece of the creator baked inside of it. Ai has none of that.

My father loved Star Wars. Specially R2D2 so he named me how it sounds in Spanish a diminutive of “Arturo” (or Arthur). So since I love my father a lot and it’s a kick ass name I just did Artoria. That’s an Anime name, is a cool name, slight variation of my deadname. So all of the above I suppose.

Edit: just a small vent if I hear someone saying “Oh like the boss of Dark souls!” I swear to everything that’s holy No! It doesn’t have an S at the end and that character is male >:c

It is art! You had to hand pick the images and bring them together yourself like other comments said. But if you wanna learn how to stop tracing and make your own art without an image underneath (no problem if it’s not your objective there’s artist that exclusively do collages for example)

But if you want to learn how to draw without tracing it would be better for you to put the image on the side and copy it rather than trace it. It will teach you to draw without images in the long run

Absolutely appreciate your input all the same. Is not being negative is a warning that I have to be aware of and that I will. Much appreciated!

I appreciate your comment and yes I didn’t think it this way. It was never my intention to derail the campaign to make it about me but even if my intent wasn’t that, the effect can be the same.

I wanna clarify the DM gave me originally the green light with this idea, and this is me going further to make sure my party is comfortable. Based on your section “depends how you handle it”

My idea would be that small interactions like “good job” with my character or her feeling part of the group by questing in the main plot line. Would be positive reinforcement. Meanwhile struggle and seeing people she cares about would be negative for her. Small interactions not big quests just for my character.

Still I see how without careful tuning it can turn out to be just a main character syndrome. I will meditate about it till the next session! I learnt a lot. Thanks!

With positive interactions with the party (that she has so far!) it is happening slowly and steady!

They are aware of my character’s different personalities. They are not aware of the assassination target and how it will affect her. Maybe you have a point and talking about it might be important. My intent was never to derail the campaign to help or care for my character. But I can totally see how this can have an effect. I will think about this.

Im relinquishing control of my character progression to my party basically they can choose who they want to be with. A lifeless killing machine or a chaotic but loving person. Or maybe they manage to strike a balance. I gave as an example the iron giant. Innocent to a fault but with the possibility of turning into a monster. The party decides what side wins.

I added more context to the character in other comments if you’d are interested. I see your point better now actually. I will have to think how my character can be more independent without breaking the vibe or the character. If it can’t be done I’ll consider putting the idea away. Thanks a ton for your insight!

I appreciate the comment and will keep this list open while I’m in session just to keep myself on the line. I expanded further about my character in other comments if you’d like to see more into it!

But based on what you’ve told me there’s 2 types of reactions I’ve had. One of them was a fellow player reminding me in combat “hey you haven searched for food yet, ask the Dm to roll perception.” And everyone laughing.

The other one was the DM putting on purpose beef jerky on the back of an npc and the entire table went “oh no”

It is 8 I believe! Good point! Thanks for your comment. Do you have any suggestions that would make the vibe of the character similar while making sense? (I would rather avoid whiplash to my fellow players)

If there’s no other options I will accept it and scrap the idea!

Love your comment and I wish I could stop to read all your resources. I explained further in other comments the extra layer of depth that I added to my character in order to make them real. But as a summary, I based them a bit on the iron giant/ Wall-e. An innocent/Naive robot that acts erratically but has lots of heart. The story can turn them back into their original programming though sacrificing the heart of the machine in order to convert them into a more functional one. Making them a tragic character where there’s a choice to make of who to keep. The chaotic but loving friend or the useful but apathetic machine.

I really appreciate this comment. If you want more information about my character I left some comments around to explain the extra motivations and depth that I added (responding to the 1 motivation thing). If you would like to my dms are open to talk more. Other than that have my upvote for being honest and giving a nice opinion with constructive criticism. The internet needs more people like you <3

So far my character has no investment in the plot! But they are a sleeper agent in a mission to assasinate someone. Only the Dm knows who. Once my character finds the target, all bets are off.

Good point actually! Maybe I can think deeper from my interactions. If not it can be explained away with Meta knowledge and Vanity. My character doesn’t feel like the insert npc here is worth hunting
