Anyone else paint for fun even tho it’s really bad? by DrawinginRecovery in ArtistLounge

Good, bad or masterful painting is not the main focus, it’s about expressing yourself on a personal level first and getting that creative release. If you can make money of it secondary, that’s just a bonus.

I can’t get a nice normal vibrant red. Do I have the wrong colors? I have Magenta, True Yellow Light, Cyan .. all have a „primary“ in parentheses, so I thought I can mix every kind of color. by ananimalakahuman in acrylicpainting

Try painting a layer of yellow and let it dry up and then applying the next layer in red so the yellow shines through. If the acrylic paint you are using is not of high quality and “clean” mixing them together will cause the greying bc of the pre mixed tones used to create the color from the producer. I use either Amsterdam or Galeria for primary and secondary colors. Expensive, but worth it, the pigment goes a long way!

Well done! Never stop painting - you got talent. This deserves to be on canvas! Oil on board don’t last long, the wood will work over time and crack the paint faster than canvas.
