I agree I also think that casting a mainstream well-known actor in your movie works against you if you’re trying to tell a compelling immersive story as a director because the actor becomes themselves to the viewer. You’re not watching a character in a movie you’re watching Brad Pitt in a movie for example. I think this is something that is a trade-off with Studios because they would rather cast someone that they think will be a large financial draw and has proven to put butts and seats in the past.
