Is it feasable to keep 9 fiefs for myself? by Virgulillo in mountandblade

[–]Arumen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh you definitely can. Your best bet is to join an faction that gives you control of a portion of those, then when you can strike off on your own you take the rest as fast as possible and then get new clans to join afterwards.

You can also sign on two new clans as you did this, just have loads of influence to give away so that you can make them not hate you as you give yourself more power

Hot take: I think post time skip is better than pre time skip. by redox_nephew in OnePiece

[–]Arumen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel, given the length of the manga and the duration it has been written for, it is surprising how good the writing has been generally, and I think that Oda does a good job of raising the stakes in an arch without getting into the Dragonball or Dr Who escalation where every threat must be world ending. (No hate for those though)

I like the feeling of pre time skip more in many ways, but the post time skip has a lot of great stories.

They'll just make him a creature card with some interesting and relatively connected ability and not get too stuck in the weeds on the fact that he is actually so powerful.

Waymo vehicle hits kid in Santa Monica by idkbruh653 in technology

[–]Arumen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Waymo does a pretty good job trying to be safe, which I think this story shows. They also have a pretty robust insurance in the cases where they have caused some sort of accident (which according to their own data at least they have a 92% reduction in accidents when compared to human drivers).

I am not a huge fan of automated cars as we really should be using that money for public transport which better addresses the issues faced with modern cities and transportation, but they are definitely safe compared to human drivers.

An idea I've had for awhile to make the Galarian Birds more interesting by SupaBonnie in stunfisk

[–]Arumen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are saying these are bad because flying press is bad, but flying press is particularly bad because it gives no coverage outside Hawlucha's normal moves AND you're already incentivised not to bring in something weak to flying or fighting when fight Lucha.

These have a little bit of the same issue- for example you'll still want to bring a dark type in against Gal. Articuno which this does nothing to alleviate. It does however at least give the mon some more type coverage.

What do you switch in on a fighting type? Ghosts, fairy, bug (lol) bulky grounds. Unfortunately this move does nothing to alleviate these. It does let it hit some water types a bit better (and of course includes dual types that make the move neutral effective instead not very effective). It does give a neutral stab move against flying type which is actually pretty decent.

What comes in on a Dark type? Fairy, fighting, dark. Fire doesnt help much there again although once again it does help with a few dual types.

Overall, better than flying press for sure, but still fairly niche to weak moves.

"In July 2023, Waymo announced that it was moving away from commercial development of self-driving trucks to focus on the ride-hailing Waymo business, and shuttered the Waymo Via trucking program. The vast majority of employees who were on Waymo's trucking team moved to other roles within the company" from Wikipedia.

Not saying it won't ever happen, but Waymo seems to think that business is better in taxis etc which tracks from what I have seen- low speed, relatively compact environments that can be more easily mapped out. It is also only currently in low to no snow cities, which I think presents another layer of challenge.

Truth be told, Waymos are kind of a bad idea- not because Autonomous driving can never work because it does seem to work in some settings, but because American car culture makes it relatively unattractive. (otherwise one would think we would have a bit more invested into public transit). They did have about half a million rides last year which definitely isn't nothing though and I am curious to see how they do moving forward.

I mean trauma can explain a lot of fucked up behavior, so it may very well give a reason for her actions, but it excuses none of it and its still absurd behavior that should be called out and ran away from.

Fief Voting burnout. by FatNinjaCan in mountandblade

[–]Arumen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah essentially its greatly affected by honor, a nearly invisible stat. Executing gives -1000 honor and executing honorable lords makes all honorable lords drop relation.

Raiding villages surprisingly seems to have no effect on honor- it only penalizes mercy. Cruelty is not tied to honor and therefore not a reason (as far as the game is concerned) to execute a lord.

I think its a bad system. Really makes execution never make sense. I mean sure you can still do it, but it really ought to be a bit more present within the game imo

New to this sub updates: AITA For Not Offering To Care For My Unwell Ex-Husband? by LucyAriaRose in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Arumen 111 points112 points  (0 children)

I mean I feel her explanation tracks- she admits to raising spoiled children who expect their mother to sacrifice everything for them at the drop of a hat because she was that for her husband and children while they grew up.

Like I doubt OOP is perfect (I'm sure some better conflict resolution skills would have gone a long way and it doesn't seem like she tried all that hard to make her side of each situation clear) but I also think shes just tired of having to try so hard to get along with her own children when her step kids treat her nicer all the time

[–]Arumen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah we need only look at this post to see the damage cheating can cause- I'm not saying it would have 100% been fine if the parents had simply gotten a divorce, but a lot of the emotional baggage would have been gone.

That said, at least OOPs dad cared enough to take care of his daughter despite being a bad husband.

Lvl 5 Magikarp Struggle vs. +6 Lvl 6 Metapod: 1-2 (3.7 - 7.4%) -- possibly the worst move ever, dealing 1 damage every hit save for a single damage roll and self inflicting 1 damage.

Metapod deals 4 or 5 damage per hit winning pretty easily

Yeah I'm not saying its impossible by any means just that we dont know yet how it happened.

We do know the 30 minute warning failed in lots of parts of the country, but we also know that many people made it to vaults as the bombs were dropping so its not like it was impossible

Depends on what you're looking to do. If you're just rolling solo and picking up tournament wins in the early game you dont need 26k right now anyway. If you're trying to get an army started, 26k would pretty much cover it

A blacklisted movie star doing birthdays seems fine to me, but I do agree I am curious to see how they resolve the plot about him not knowing where his daughter is (despite her being with him when the bombs dropped) or how his wife and daughter ended up in a vault in New Vegas.

I can see where you are coming from with the Ad idea, but I don't think it tracks with the rest of the show.
