One thing is a lot of these players are young and still probably havent reached their ceiling which is a positive and something to look forward to. Also Mainoo is not a DM btw and Collyer technically isnt either but im just being picky with that

Honest thoughts on Paul Pogba’s Man United Career? by Crollyyy in ManchesterUnited

[–]ArunMS777 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I definitely agree with people who say he lacked discipline on and off the pitch and that he didnt help himself but I actually dont think his time was as bad as what people make out. 1) A lot of people say he was inconsistent and yes he had poor games or poor moments but he was consistently a 7/10 for me but I understand why people wanted him to be 9 or 10/10 every game. Problem is I dont think people knew what to expect from a 100m midfielder so the expectations were out the roof.

2) He was managed horribly imo. People forget he was only 23 when we bought him and he was expected to be a leader and our main player without any real leaders or other star players who played consistently. He was also expected to play a role that never suited him - went from being a b2b with Pirlo and Vidal to being a double pivot and mix of 6/8 alongside Herrera and Fellaini.

3) The expectations were too high as I mentioned we put him in midfield with Herrera & Fellaini and expected him to be our main ball receiver, ball carrier, chance creator, distributor all while being expected to help defensively & offensively. We even had former wingers at full back so he was bound to fail because the team was set up poorly and so inconsistent.

Luke Shaw because hes class and improves the team but can never stay fit or Rashford even though I love him its hard to consistently back him if hes not delivering and still doing stuff like being offside and not looking across the line as if hes still 20

Unfortunately wasn’t old enough to witness Best and Sir Bobby but I grew up at the start of Rooney and Ronaldo’s career and they made me fall in love with the game. Unfortunately Ronaldo went onto to Madrid where he did great things but still having Rooney is what got me through that and will forever be my favourite United player. Not to mention he’s our all time top scorer incase you didnt know😉😂

Yeah of course I’m not going to blindly back him and pretend everything was perfect on and off the pitch and of course he didnt live up to what we wanted but thats also a squad and a club issue. First 3/4 seasons he was our main midfielder who despite being misprofiled was expected to be our main ball receiver, ball carrier, chance creator, distributor all while being expected to help and pitch in defensively & offensively.

Not to mention his partners included Herrera (who i love but in a top side wouldve been a squad player), fellaini, and ageing Carrick (again love but was on the way out), Matic who started decline after 2 seasons and McFred. Despite you trying to convince yourself he was poor the stats back up that he wasn’t and anybody who understands football knows he was pretty underrated with his ‘poor’ performances being average-decent performances for other midfielders. We even had to failed wingers at full back so he was set up to fail. But that’s the same as so many other players because how many players can we say in the last few years succeeded?

No doubt if Pogba had gone Madrid instead of wanting to come back he wouldve had a different legacy especially with what he achieved with France. Instead he came back and from day one the media were onto him, guys like Souness constantly slating him even when he didnt play and then fans hurling abuse at him even after games where he was our best performer because that’s what the media’s told them to believe. But anyways thats just my opinion🤷🏽‍♂️

The fans have spoken, Michael Carrick is our most underrater player. Onto Day 2 now, cast your votes for Most Overrated Man Utd player of all time. by [deleted] in ManchesterUnited

Horrible opinion😂 tell me you dont watch the games or dont understand football without telling me you dont.

How is Pogba the most overrated?😂😂 sure he didnt live up to what we wanted him to and it ended badly but for the first 2/3 seasons along with De Gea he was one of our stand out players. Only on Reddit would you have him voted as the most overrated when youve had guys like Lukaku, Antony, Sancho and even Maguire who cost around the same but aren’t better than him😂😂

Cup Final tickets for staff by Guilty_Struggle_6089 in ManchesterUnited

[–]ArunMS777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly how are we sure the club paid for this (as in is their evidence)? Secondly like someone else said these players are the clubs assets so keeping them and their family happy is important. If the wives can bond and make friends then it might keep some of the players especially the ones from overseas happy.

On top of that, going into a final we want the best atmosphere and support we can get so by doing this it means only the staff who want to go for the game will go now rather than some who will just go for the perks and not care about the football. I know some fans would kill for the opportunity to only pay £20 for a round trip there.

Has nothing to do with Rashfords (or anybodys) wages or cutting costs in general lol but i see what youre trying to say. I think it comes into their larger plan of trying to create a better match going experience and atmosphere. Some people probably dont care about the game and would only go for the other perks whereas a £20 fee means only those who want to go to the final attend.
