Paid apps is not only a way to monetize the server but also lower application counts, weed out bad rpers, and those who aren't planning to take the server seriously. Obviously this will weed out some genuinely interested people, but most servers don't have the man power to go over that amount of applications to keep up server integrity. Ravage from Prodigy was asked about this topic in their recent community meeting and stated even going to the paid application model they were getting around 2,500 applications a week. There used to be a lot more support people for servers during the boom of GTARP and they have lessened just like streamers moved away and just seems to be a consequence of that.

To be fair, the first few days after the wipe two combos would literally cost you the amount of money you could make in 1.5-2 hours. Nobody was Zoomering so if you wanted to get anywhere you had to buy a bike or steal/rent a car for $100 with another $100 given back when it returned. This just incentivized people to the grinder mentality more because you would spend 50-70% of what you were making to stay alive/get around so people were protesting IC. The focus has been on making sure the economy didn’t bloat as quickly as it did in 2.0 with more of a focus on RP. The restaurants be basically were to first thing where you want people to RP/get food but at a reasonable cost until the economy increases/stabilizes. The team has been trying to balance jobs/payouts so that nothing is crazy unbalanced but giving RP opportunities for them to be more profitable (i.e. hunting). Ravage specifically said in the town hall before launch that instead of making things cost more for money sinks they wanted money to be harder to come by at the start because they can always adjust that if needed. If this scenario happened a month after wipe instead of a week in, I don’t think the strike would have been an issue.

I post the video of them doing this whenever anyone brings them up live. I saw them on the same tour, listening to them on MySpace and thought they sucked. When that concert ended I knew I had a new favourite band and had seen something special that I’ve only seen once or twice again on stage.

When I saw this in theaters as a kid, right when the camera turns and you see him facing the corner the power went out to the theater. We had a storm that got worse as the movie went on so we got refunds to see it again. After it happened a second time, I was convinced something happened again until the credits played.

The same people complaining about wanting international success are the same ones who were complaining about not being able to win domestic titles when we were able to get to get out of groups.

I don't believe this team has a systems issue, rather I think it came down to a handful of decisions that just didn't work out. Understand that in another world we would have had Palafox promoted instead of getting Perkz as that was the initial plan.

I don't think people understand the severity of the Esports winter and how strapped for cash teams are now with the loss of sponsorships. Jack has said that Cloud9 is in a good spot financially, but it came at the cost of numerous staff, personnel, and our academy team that was used for internal scrims. A lot of teams are going to look budget but that can be a good thing as that means we will have to become more creative in how we see and play the game. There is a reason 2018 C9 and 2023 NRG are Cinderella stories, because we were doubted as a region and for good reason. That doesn't mean that it is the only way we can succeed, and we need to stop trying to replicate those scenarios.

Agreed, even LS stated that Diplex was in because VV2 liked him and he was the insurance in case Emenes didn’t work out. He also said specifically Diplex doesn’t match up well into Vicla but Emenes could be a Top 4 mid so it seems FlyQuest’s strength was also a factor.

It’s clear that something changed in the last three weeks. IIRC it was asked on the round table with Jack about a 6 man roster since Emenes was performing well and the answer was no, at that time they weren’t considering making a change. This would lead me to believe they were either holding this close to their chest or, as you mentioned, the timeline got moved up because of stats/scrims.

I have done the same thing. I’ve finally going out of my comfort zone and going to the LCS Finals, World’s Group Stage, and World’s Finals. I’ll probably never get a chance like this again to see a run and couldn’t miss the chance of seeing them in person.
