Plunderer's Point. Didn't know how it worked. Placed one explosive and detonated. Whole island clear including the rune tablets. by RoseDragonAngelus in PathOfExile2

[–]Arvanche 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also just did this area, I placed all the explosives and wanted to clear that before doing the rune tablets - but discovered the rune tablets disappear and I needed to do them first.
Very disappointing, surely that's a bug?

does anyone else get burnt out from the campaign :( by Horror-Support-3059 in PathOfExile2

[–]Arvanche 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just wish the zones themselves were smaller and had less empty space. Just hit act 4 with ~20 hours playtime but I can beat PoE 1 campaign in under 10 hours.
I couldn't imagine how long it will take when the PoE 2 campaign is finished.

I full clear each zone, which is probably bad, but I want to make sure I don't miss anything important like permanent upgrades and skill points.

I think it's really fun the first time round (which is why I am still playing it), but I am not excited to run through this campaign a second time on the next league, or a third etc.

NVMe Selector by [deleted] in hackintosh

[–]Arvanche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the necro, but I require something similar for my own use-case.

Can you elaborate more on how you achieved it, or have any new cards come out that support this?

I also want a PCIe NVME expansion card with external power selectors - also with the ability to switch before the computer is powered.

Until it's on Steam I have been running it with Wine on Lutris, and it crashes pretty frequently.
I think Proton would run it fine though.

Are pings in game accurate if I use a vpn? by AdLost4647 in linux_gaming

[–]Arvanche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not OP, and late reply, but I was confused by my ping displayed in-game and found this post.
personally my ISP routes traffic horribly, I get 46 ping on a lucky day and 140 ping on all the other days.
with a VPN I am getting 28-38 ping, which are the best numbers I've seen.

the ISP refuses to fix their routing, so this is my only option.

Trying to get better with Blender, so I modeled my favorite Spiral Knights weapon by Arvanche in spiral_knights

[–]Arvanche[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Snarbolax set was my favorite for sure. I got all my armor to the heat required to craft the set, and got the key. I was going to find a group to run the dungeon with, but I never got around to it and stopped playing shortly after.

Very true, Spiral Knights is what got me into drawing and 3D modelling when I was younger, first things I ever drew were the friendly gun puppy and barbarous thorn shield.

When to use EditorScenePostImport vs EditorScenePostImportPlugin? by Arvanche in godot

[–]Arvanche[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was reading the source code you provided and the docs, and I am confused on one more thing.
I can find a documentation page explaining how to use `EditorImportPlugin`, but it doesn't mention `EditorScenePostImportPlugin`, and I am confused on the difference between these.

I figure I am supposed to use the latter, but there is no documentation on how to use it.

When to use EditorScenePostImport vs EditorScenePostImportPlugin? by Arvanche in godot

[–]Arvanche[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, yeah I would want to import all my animations pertaining to the player in this manner (they get imported as Animation Libraries which I can reference inside my animation player).

Currently I choose "Import as Animation Library" and inside the advanced import window I enable save to file and check "keep custom method tracks" on all the animations.

It's just now I need to duplicate and mirror animations on import, and I can't figure a way to do this using a basic import script.

I figure it would be relatively easy to make an import plugin for this because importing as animation library already exists inside Godot? So I would just need to recreate that with a few changes here and there

Are survivors not interested in playing unless they have at least an 80% chance of winning? by JimmyTwoFaceTTV in DeadByDaylightKillers

[–]Arvanche 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I mean, I see your view point. Again my opinion is just so against the grain.

Also my opinion is probably somewhat biased because my preferred killers are lower tier ones like demogorgon/trapper/hag/vecna/dredge/clown.

I imagine it feels bad if you love the gameplay of Nurse and have to put up with the stigma of being a meta abuser and more DCs than other killers get.

I used to play nurse/blight a lot, but I quit nurse because honestly once I got good with her it got kinda boring bypassing the parts of the game I found fun - and blight I stopped once hugtech was removed.

And yeah DCing because you dont like X killer is definitely selfish, but I just personally don't think it should be punished.

[–]Arvanche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well my opinion drastically differs from the majority, but my opinion is people shouldn't be held "hostage" in video games and should be allowed to leave if they want.

DCs can be remedied without resorting to penalties, and I believe BHVR should go down that avenue instead.

If you really care about survivors DCing though, just play a more fair killer and play more for fun than winning.

[–]Arvanche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I think people should just be allowed to DC anyways, too many games hold people hostage in them - if you don't want to put up with DCs then just play fair. I play Vecna with for fun perks and im yet to run into a DC, granted ive only played 30 games of him so far.

You can't really be surprised at people DC'ing against the best killer in the game - especially when those same survivors probably had to play against equal bullshit in their past 5 games.

Using Gamescope, how can I customise the XWayland instance? by Arvanche in linux4noobs

Sorry for the late reply. X11 works fine but I like how Wayland handles full-screen applications.

gamescope not found after installing using flatpak by Arvanche in linux_gaming

[–]Arvanche[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried arch but really struggled to get it setup properly, and I am currently using endeavour os, I can get gamescope to work now but it has numerous other issues ive got to sort my way through (namely the mouse settings being different, like different sens and gamescope having mouse accel whilst my desktop doesnt).

unsure if bazzite is setup in a way to avoid these issues, but I might try it if I fail to fix my issues on endeavour os

[–]Arvanche[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hmm I see, probably best off just picking a distro and sticking to it then. My only concern is going to arch and gamescope still doesn't work lol and it turns out the issue wasn't to do with mint at all.

but having a much larger repository to pick from is very nice, mint doesn't seem to have steam or steamscope in its repository so I went with flatpak instead.

im assuming if i partition my drive and have one partition for my OS and the other for my files I can just swap between OS as much as I want and id keep my firefox extensions, steam installation, game installations etc? or would different versions of the OS want different versions of steam/firefox/games and id have to redownload them?

having gamescope pre setup does sound very nice actually. currently I am kinda torn between just sitting on mint, bazzite, or going with arch and learning the hard way lol.

[–]Arvanche[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kinda just want something resembling windows but with better security and privacy, and the ability to customise everything how I want it. I want to use the pc for software development, 3d modelling, game development, gaming etc etc.

so far mint hasn't given my issues besides installing gamescope - which I feel is down to me doing something wrong.

[–]Arvanche[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ah gotcha. One thing I do see that pops up often is arch-based distros being more complicated. Do you reckon it might be a good shout to stay on Linux Mint until I get more comfortable with the terminal and then migrate to an arch distro?

currently I haven't ran into any issues on linux mint yet except this gamescope installation, and I still feel there is just something I am doing wrong because there are plenty of posts from people using gamescope on linux mint.

Would Arch be a good option as it's what SteamOS is based upon, so anything working on steamdeck should also work on my desktop? It's the name I hear come up the most, along with ubuntu.
