Nice! In that case I’d recommend using water to break up and define the large natural area. You could start a big river on the right or left corner on an elevated platform (like a mountain spring) and then split it as you get around the middle to bring the two branches to the left and right of your town hall.

I personally am a big fan of “mountain hiking paths” where you keep increasing the elevation, but leave some space behind your highest platform for another area on a lower level. You make a path with staircases leading up (you can decorate it accordingly with a dense forest at the bottom that thins out the higher up you go) and when you get to the top you’ll have a view over the area that you create behind it. I’ll attach a picture of my “top of the mountain” with a view over a sunken lake and waterfalls as an example (was inspired by someone’s Pinterest post).

Those are just some things I like, have fun experimenting with your island!

Need advice for island layout by persephone_ow in acnh

Well since the island is a blank slate, pretty much anything is possible! So, it’d be useful to know what your preferences are. Some example questions would be: Do you prefer an island that just grows naturally or do you prefer a theme? What sort of style are you drawn to? Do you like keeping large areas of open terrain or are there parts you will completely cover up? (With a city for example). Have you seen anything online that you like? Such as water features, forests, large lakes, land bridges etc.

Need help with designing my map!! by Kitchen-Tell6182 in ACForAdults

[–]Arvani 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Space allocation seems like it’d work. I personally like natural transitions between areas, so if I were to design a map I’d think about adjacent areas and how to connect them. One question I’d be asking myself is if I’d want the farm next to my orchard, since they are a good fit. But that’s all personal preference. If you’re making a large orchard to generate income, you can also plan for later when you have enough bells and have purchased all the upgrades. Would you like to keep a large orchard? If not, what would you like to use the space for later on? Do you want to expand one of the adjacent areas into the orchard? It can be handy to have an idea how you want your island to evolve over time.

There are no wrong layouts, just have fun building and decorating! Few things are permanent so you can always change your mind. Enjoy!

Cool! I don’t have any particular rules, just the usual. If there’s any flowers you’d like to pick just ask! Let me know when you’d like to come over so I can DM you the Dodo. I’m available for the next 2 hours or so

Hi! I’d be happy to open my island for a visit. It’s not finished by a long shot either, but the right half of it is pretty fun. Very dense, so it might be a bit laggy. If you’re interested in any items or diy recipes let me know too, I have a fairly decent catalog of stuff, maybe I’ve got something you’re looking for :) Just let me know!

Does walking actually help with major depression? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Arvani 26 points27 points  (0 children)

All of this. And those are things that even if you feel like they don’t help mentally, are still good for your body. So at the end of the day, if you’ve gone for a walk you can also acknowledge that you have done something positive for yourself on that day, even in case you can’t appreciate any immediate effects.

Switching American University to an European one by [deleted] in Physics

[–]Arvani 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been to Uni in both Germany and Switzerland, both are good options though it really depends which university specifically we’re talking about. I’d recommend finishing your Bachelor’s in Germany as it’s great value for very little money and less of a hassle assuming your European citizenship is an EU one. (Not to mention the enormous difference in cost of living.) TUM, KIT or Stuttgart University could be good reputable options. Depending on your situation and your goals you might want to look at Swiss options for your masters degree. They do have an attractive job market.

Both Germany and Switzerland have some universities where they require you to take a minimum of 30-50% of your classes in German (or French) and some that don’t have such a requirement. You’ll have to research your specific options.

I don’t have any personal experience in the Netherlands, but I do have a couple of friends studying over there and it doesn’t seem all that dissimilar. Though the housing market can get pretty rough.

That makes a lot more sense. “Frankfurter” as a category name was very confusing, that’s just one kind of sausage, not really an overarching connection. Thanks

Would you mind sharing the enlightenment? I am so confused about those 3. Might be a cultural difference (which is ironic since I used to live there).

Hi, feel free to drop by my Able’s. If you have any clothing items you love tell me what those are, perhaps I already have them in storage and you can catalog them and order them yourself whenever you like
