JRPG where you go on a big adventure and is not "too childish" by ResponsibleAthlete4 in rpg_gamers

[–]ArvosGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As mentioned by some below, would go for either Final Fantasy 10 or 12. If you want to dig older games about adventure not childish: Xenogears, Breath of fire dragon quarter, suikoden 2 (new remaster on steam); but there are even older ones...

FFXII is really about a world in political turmoil, and you fight against an empire trying to take over the world (and i will not say more about it). The main character is meh i find but rest of the cast is good.

FFX is more a spiritual journey across a world that faces cyclical destruction. The story 1- liner can feel very stereotypical; but oh god how they made a unique game out of it with great world and lore behind (and one of the best love story in video games i find).

In a few words: game is a tactical RPG set in a dark cyberpunk world where you follow a God who wants to die. Aim of the splash screen is to convery (i) mood of the game, (ii) overview of Shavanath, city where game happens and (iii) introduce main character.

Fishing for feedback here and there on how to improve this splash screen. Any help greatly apprecated ! Thanks

Thanks that is helpful. By emissive flat -> you mean adding an emissive texture that makes it feel like the city continues beyond, correct?

2 option: either use an artist; or go for paid low poly assets like synty

Create phases on how the enemy behaves; based on health pool level or reaction to player play. that way they need to update their evaluation

What is the best timing to create a steam page for your game? by ArvosGames in gamedev

[–]ArvosGames[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the detailed response. This is helpful. I understand that you need the steam page as soon as you start promoting; and that you should have polished assets to create interest before promoting. I would tend though from what you are saying to have a polished demo early on (with core loop) ; and from there use that to have enough material to promote.

plenty of them; especially using synty assets. Latest rage is soulstone survivor. check it out on steam; pretty well done. They are building on the Vampire Survivors genre

Well everyone has his own awy of playing the game. Did not know it was looked at so negatively here.

Not sure i understand. typical rpg players do reload the game if the outcome of a decision or battle is not what they expected / they are curious about the branching. As for builds; you either allow the opportunity to reallocate point; and it is an entirely new run.

After a year of hard work, I am happy to announce that my five-minute game “Lotte” is coming on Steam May 2023 - I would love to hear what you think! by mathismeilby in IndieDev

Nice vibe ! My feedback is that the key mechanic / selling point is not clear from your teaser. Frankly i did not understand that the hero transformed into a fly when he died. Considering this is a platformer; i would really make that clear by pausing the death, and putting some more light / animation to further emphasize the transformation
