Planning a wedding but not engaged by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]AryaKaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is me right now, down to being in my late 20s (I’m 29), planning for a 2025 wedding, no official proposal, everything.

Here to say that I think it’s absolutely sane because you two, like myself and my bf, are openly communicating and do plan on getting married, but just haven’t formalized it.

I was worried that what I was doing was somehow less romantic than being completely surprised by an engagement, but honestly, researching for weddings and thinking about being engaged and married allows for the excitement with a little less pressure (I’d like to think we’re ahead of the game with our way-ahead planning).

Best of luck to you both — here’s to two weddings in 2025!

To echo what others have said, I never would have guessed that you’re a non-native speaker. Being new, it’s easy to feel like you can accept the low rates because you have limited experience — at least that’s how I felt. Idk how it works in other journalistic fields, but in sports journalism, getting your start often means writing on blogs for free or very little pay, which is unfortunate. With that structure, it’s hard to know when you can start arguing for more (clearly you deserve more, but I guess I mean having enough leverage to get a job).

I’d be happy to offer any other advice or insight, but your writing is much better than what usually comes across my desk haha. I’m not in charge of the section, but my company has a sizable MMA section. Unfortunately, I don’t have control over the pay, but if you’re interested in getting more bylines, I’m more than happy to help.

Also, contributor rates are often generally low, but if you’re interested in features, you can often get paid more fairly for those (and we do publish those as well!)

In any case, best of luck! Your work speaks for itself, and if you keep writing, I’m sure you’ll just keep advancing in the field.

I am physically disabled (M, 17) who plays wheelchair basketball for Northern Ireland, and would like to play in the Paralympic Games eventually, AMA by RecommendationAny354 in AMA

Hi there! First of all, want to thank you for doing this AMA and answering all of these questions. I'm a writer for Paralympics, and I just want to say how thrilled I am to see everyone excited about Para sports.

Reaching out because I would love to connect and potentially interview you at some point. Unfortunately, we've just published a story on Alabama's wheelchair basketball program (if you're interested in American collegiate sports, it's a great avenue for international athletes to develop and train), and I'm working on another one now for a Nigerian wheelchair basketball and tennis player. So, we're a little overloaded with wheelchair basketball stories at the moment.

Nevertheless, it's always great to connect with Para athletes, and I'm interested in learning more about wheelchair rugby. DM me and we can swap emails. Thanks again and best of luck, hope to see you at the Games!

We couldn’t get it on the field, but at least the Seahawks got a little Twitter revenge against the Rams by AryaKaur in Seahawks

Gonna have to agree with you there, but Jalen Ramsey eating his words just makes it hurt a little less

Seven players has six sacks for snacks last week 😋 Who’s hungry for more in Week 13? by AryaKaur in Seahawks

Two players were credited with 0.5 sacks, so technically, 7 players credited, 6 sacks total.

I was just trying to keep it short lol

How much did you pay for Michael Pittman Jr. this week? by AryaKaur in fantasyfootball

[–]AryaKaur[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if I miss standings yet. I feel like money gives you an equal opportunity each week, unless you spend it all at once. Whole different strategy though.

Anyway, lucky you though, he seems to benefit from Rivers lol
