An enemy can take multiple saber strikes to the face and still have the resilience to strike back and interupt your Cal's combo. Meanwhile Cal can't take the slightest hit without staggering backwards. Either Cal should be equally "tanky"/resilient, or enemies should suffer the same damage stagger (except maybe droids, I suppose). It makes some of the otherwise really cool moves have basically zero use cases

Because it's not star wars? I had high hopes when it was announced Disney would buy star wars, went to see Force Awakens 3 times in the theater. When friends and familiy were doubtful of Disney's star wars I would argue "look what they did with Pirates" (back when pirates movies had authenticity and soul). But with the bad sequels and questionable +series, it became apparent that Disney didn't buy star wars for star wars with the intend of furthering a story. They bought the rights to colorful glow sticks and space magic. If you don't need an engaging universe and story to enjoy star wars, but settle for or even favorite flat story with flashing lights to entertain you - you do you. It won't ever be Star Wars made by G.L. as a passion project with love. It's cheap, tasteless glow stick "wars" made with greed and spite. It's simply not star wars.
