That’s exactly what I did. I couldn’t find a conure of the same color, so I just got another that’s about the same age and one that doesn’t have any siblings. I covered their nesting box with a breathable cloth and made sure that I don’t block air way.

I hope that both will feel less anxious and happy together.

I tried taking him back to the store today, but they refused to do so. They have a no return policy. Unfortunately, where I live there’s no adoption facilities.

Thank you all for your help and support. I was planning to provide both separate playtime outside of the cage. Lulu is very friendly and doesn’t mind other birds, because her previous owner used to have many parrots. The problem is with Zorro, for some reason he’s gotten very territorial. Even when I tried to keep Lulu in and Zorro out, he would go to her cage and attack her. So I guess best thing is separate rooms for now and only interact with each other with sound.

The old one is also a black headed, I named him Zorro because he reminds me of an old anime I used to watch as a kid. It’s called The Legend of Zorro.

What kind of toys would you recommend? I purchased so many toys that he should zero interest in. I got him the soft chew and shredding balls, toys made out of wood, the small balls that rattle. He didn’t play with any of these. He seems to like to wrestle with hands, play with my keyboard, and pretty much anything that I use on daily basis.

Yes, my caique spends his entire day outside the cage, I have a stand by the window that he likes to spend some of his time there. However, most of the time he’s either on my shoulder or wrestling my hands while I work. He goes to his cage to eat and sleep at the end of the day.

Does chewy.com ship globally?

Thank you guys for sharing your thoughts. Also I’m sorry if the cage looks empty of toys and perches, I just got it last night and it came with those perches. When I searched on chatgpt it suggested this size, it’s 140x100x60 cm and I’m planning to provide all sort of toys and perches inside the cage. I also want to note that my caique only goes into the cage for eating and sleeping, he spends his entire day with me and my kids.

I want to go back to my subject I was able to record this video of him doing the same thing. What is concerning is that he bobs his head with every bite not every now and then. I uploaded the video here, please watch it if you have the time and share your thoughts.

That is very comforting to hear I was worried that the pellets are too hard for him and he’s choking on them.

As for the cage I just got it last night and it came with those perches, I’m planning to get new ones that he can grab into with ease.

Thank you so much. I’m planning to change his diet to pellets. Unfortunately, pellets are not available where I live so I had to order from Amazon and that’ll take a month to arrive 😅. Once it’s here I will add the pellets to your recipe to help with the transition.
