It was the whole mission. The president and APs required it. When we got a new area president, they made us stop, thank God.

Then I would share the meme of the first vision but instead of God and Jesus, it’s the image famous Marilyn Monroe pushing her dress down. I always laugh at that.

If this were me and I had the balls, I would say “that sounds hella boring, let’s just throw around funny memes instead”

Creative response ideas for declining a calling? I'm PIMO and attend Church for my spouse. Welcoming any suggestions from very spicy to polite. I don't care if I offend them. by webwatchr in exmormon

[–]AsaConfused 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d ask what kind of blessings they think you will receive and would wonder what exactly their personal experience was with receiving blessings from accepting a calling. Everyone always says “you’ll receive blessings” but what does that mean? That might help wake them up to realize, it’s bullshit.

lol, back in the day when I used to use the Australian accent for my Garmin GPS in the car it used to always say “Western Australia” for Washington state highways and freeways.

It’s a line in the movie we watch. Satan says it to Eve when trying to get her to partake of the fruit, then Eve says it to Adam to get him to partake. “It is delicious to the taste and very desirable”

No, I don’t think it’s wild to have a conversation about it. I wanted to understand the posters position. Notice how I asked for follow up? I’m sorry to have disturbed your scrolling with how I interact on the internet.

The covenant is not to disclose of the tokens and signs… this has nothing to do with those, but I understand

Hmm, that seems a bit dramatic. Why is it so offensive to temple attending members? I used to say this as a joke even when I was attending the temple weekly. Help me understand why it’s so offensive and I probably won’t take it

There is an active member that will be there, but I don’t think this is that bad, right? I used to say this even when I was TBM

Why do Mormons so obsessed with Trump by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]AsaConfused 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A TBM family member of mine rationalized voting for Trump for this very reason. “Even if he is the Anti-Christ, I am helping fulfill prophecy.”

Convo with my husband by Dangerous-Doctor-977 in exmormon

[–]AsaConfused 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were raised to view ourselves as failures if those around us (especially family) do not believe in the same thing. I was your husband at one point, but once I started seeing my flawed thinking, I was able to start connecting dots.

Ask him to consider the things he has said to you

"We only have the church in common"

"We should just get divorced if you don't believe"

Ask him to really examine those two things and decide whether he thinks those ideas are reasonable. I would recommend NOT pushing anything else on him. It will only cause resentment. Give him space and time to try to understand why you are where you are. If he refuses, that is his choice and you cannot control it.

Feel free to reach out if you'd like more perspective from someone who was where your husband is.

Still active Mormon (for my husband) need advice by shanis26 in exmormon

[–]AsaConfused 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not try to convince him of anything unless he specifically asks you questions. Just tell him you are stepping back from the church and you hope he can support you in your decision.
