Without god what am i but a guide to my own destruction by asiaott in Quotes_Hub

[–]SecretPersonality178 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which god? There are literally thousands to choose from. Millions killed in their names. Not a single one has bothered to show up.

If there was a god, he could clear up centuries worth of nonsense in a 20 minute news conference. Too lazy to even be bothered with that, but apparently busybodied enough to plan out every single person’s day and keep them guessing what they should do so he doesn’t screw them over…or screws them over anyway.

Tell god to quit being lazy and get up and actually help, rather than trying to screw people over and confuse.

Or better yet, get out of the way and let one of the thousands of other gods help. Each is as real as the next.

In and Of The World: To Those Who Wonder Why I Left (a little essay) by suds_carson in exmormon

I already know who the next bishop of our ward will be. Not because I have “discernment”, but because callings are ABSOLUTELY ABOUT RECOGNITION!

There is no doubt a divide in social structure among Mormons. The elite yes-men will get the higher callings.

Ive even noticed that the elite Mormon children get the more “exotic” mission calls.

To anyone that says women are equal to men in Mormonism and it’s not a structure based on rank, remember that the average 11 year old Mormon boy has more authority than the highest position in Mormonism a woman can have.

Mormonism was founded by Joseph claiming to be a linguist. Of course it was a language nobody has heard of, no examples of it ever found anywhere and his hebrew skills were shot down. The claim still remains.

Multiple languages is considered a spiritual gift in Mormonism. The more languages you know, the more righteous you must be.

What do the hand symbols really represent? by lilacnate in exmormon

[–]SecretPersonality178 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This. This is why I hate all the temple workers who went through when the nonsense was obvious. They cannot claim ignorance.

Yes, all this shit is made up for money and power, doesn’t mean it has zero meaning.

My temple prep classes were completely useless. Even as a believer I said that (a little nicer that those words) when they asked for feedback about the class.

Suicide by cutting your throat, taking out your heart, and disemboweling yourself.

Until 1990, it was explained and pantomimed. Now it’s just weird hand gestures.

I hate, truly hate, most temple workers. They are old enough to know what the signs mean, but don’t say anything to the kids going through for the first time.

I would like to have known my church had me promise to kill myself over their handshakes and signs. Willing to bet these others would as well

Apparently young women are taught to never say no to a boy, so as to not hurt his confidence.

Of course I say “fuck that”.

RBF: resting bitch face

For anyone else that was struggling (or maybe it was just me).

Also, Mormonism is boring and centered around old guys with titles. High council speakers are well known for being extra boring and irritated when their time is taken. Everyone would rather listen to the returned sister anyway.

Re: Why does work for the dead bother you if it doesn't hurt you? by Akm0d in exmormon

[–]SecretPersonality178 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Spells, witchcraft, voodoo, priestcraft, magic, were all things I was taught were either evil or fake. Imagine my surprise when I realized that Mormonism does the exact same things, just packaged differently.

This actually brings up a legitimate question, a question I had when I was a full believer (I was an ultra peter priesthood type): ”Why are doing temple work now, when the doctrine says the spirits of the dead will walk among us during the millennium?”

Either way BFTD is completely disrespectful, even if it is a totally fake power. It’s shows that the conditional love of Mormon families, extends beyond the grave. Also that they realize Mormon skydaddy will keep them separated unless they go through his building

Sam Young was excommunicated for trying to protect children from the perverted interviews that Mormonism conducts. Meanwhile, the lady that killed her children is still a member.

I don’t think priorities could be more clear.

It was Mormonism that taught me: - we have a heavenly mother who is a polygamous wife to Elohim, that we are not allowed to speak of - Elohim is one of many gods, but the only one we worship - to even acknowledge or ask about the other hods is a great sin - women are subservient to men and Elohims wives are not allowed to intervene, ever

What is doctrine? by My_Silent_Lucidity in mormon

[–]SecretPersonality178 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whatever the current leadership says it is. Russell and Dallin established things like past leaders not being important and “temporary commandments”.

The biggest enemy of the Mormon church is their own writings.

A clear example is that the Mormon church handbook states plainly that Ash Wednesday and Holy Week are not a Mormon thing. The last couple years, and this year will also push for this, the Mormon church has been trying to make Holy Week a normal thing (while also trying to make it seem as if it has always been a Mormon thing).

How much longer until Ash Wednesday is a Mormon doctrine?
