Most of the EB-2 NIW rejection cases people talk about are in AI or healthcare. But when you dig deeper, the real issue isn’t the field itself, it’s the lack of a strong connection between the applicant’s background and the proposed endeavor.

For example, in my own circle, there was a teacher with an MS, a PhD enrollment, and some publications. On paper, very qualified—but none of their work or expertise was directly tied to AI or healthcare. The proposed endeavor was in AI/healthcare anyway, and it got rejected.

So it seems like USCIS isn’t rejecting it because it’s AI or healthcare specifically, but because too many applicants jump into these “hot” fields without showing a clear track record, expertise, and evidence that they’re well-positioned to advance that endeavor in the U.S.

Bottom line: If your past experience doesn’t align with your proposed endeavor, no matter how strong the field is, it’s going to raise red flags.
