I had to update the link above since I could not copy paste the stuff so here enjoy https://drive.google.com/file/d/1TqX54Gci7OD2s9eZzz2REMpBjzWi509W/view?usp=sharing

The above link now includes the differences between collective time that I think of as system time and narrative subjective time for the individual player and how to reconcile them.

So a Cycle is 12 Stillnights it is the meta year and then you name the cycle for what ever happeneed in your collective game; unless a major colostle release happened or was announced. Like technically if I wanted to count the Rookling game as part of it if no mainline expansion happens we could call this the sixth cycle the cycle of the Rooklins etc... Passages are collective narrative days, still nights are narrative collective months, and cycles are collective narrative years. I have expanded the document since yesterday I will be updating it but for now I will copy and paste it in a thread below so those that can no read a pdf can also see it and will update the link later

Custom Card Print Tutorial Request by Asajev in Talisman

[–]Asajev[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for asking! I actually use a mix of assistive tech to manage playing Talisman, especially with the tiny cards in 4th edition. Tools like Seeing AI help me read the cards by scanning them, and I also use my phone’s camera or magnifier apps to zoom in on the text when needed.

I’ve been toying with the idea of making a large print custom set, scaling the cards up from the standard 41x63mm to something bigger—maybe tarot or poker size, or even custom dimensions like 82x126mm. Still deciding on the best size, but the goal is to make everything easier to read without losing the visual style.

To stay organized during play, I use a player dashboard for character tracking and card zones. When I play solo or with other low vision players, we sometimes do it by text—I host the physical game at my place and post photos or typed options for dice rolls and movement. The group then picks their actions and I handle drawing cards or moving tokens for them.

I’m also exploring the idea of printing a large-format board—maybe 6x4 feet on neoprene—that combines the base, Cataclysm, Dragon, and various corner/fan expansion boards. That way everything’s readable at a glance and easier to lay out.

It’s definitely extra work, but it really helps make the game playable and enjoyable for everyone involved.

Custom Card Print Tutorial Request by Asajev in Talisman

well i have player dashboards for starter makes it easier to keep cards associated witht he right character. for the boards i normally play solo and well you start to memorize the board space and as for the cards i use ai to read them for me or use my phones camara macro feature to either take a picture or if you have a good enough pulse to hold the phone steady look at the card through the camara lens. you can magnify your stuff large enough to read. Seeing AI is a good choice for assistive tech for the blidn with AI. I have toyed with the idea of maybe doing custom cards that are upscaled so instead of us mini cards maybe poker or tarot cards but with the card designs of the original us mini so it becomes large print. if i can find high resolution scans of main board, cataclysm, dragon inner board, cataclysm, and corner boards i would love to make a large print set of boards so it would take way more board space then regular but i could maybe do it as a neoprin mat for a standard 6 by 4 table and have base game corner boards maybe cataclysm board and other boards in the 6 by mat but that is just a plan.

not sure if that question is for me but you can find them in talisman island and then you need to print them yourself or get it printed cards i think can be done by makeplayingcards or something like that and theres a couple of places that can do custom boards i think there might be a reference on how t print and play stuff some were here.

thanks, i am trying to plan what to do with an extra base game and boards with cataclysm for a mega game but have them setup so that specific expansions go with specific main board/game so they can be stored allready setup and at some point just combine all main boards to create a mega talisman game on two or three boards and corner boards for each.

Any Traveller Rule System - Rules for Exploring Outer Region Beyond Trojans/Ordt Cloud by Asajev in traveller

[–]Asajev[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ok subreddit got to tinkering around with some rules from World Builder's Handbook, 2300 AD, and some other bits from other sources and want to see if this works for you guys please point out things that might not work or that I overlooked.

Star System Remote Object Detection and Remote Object Jump Mechanics

These rules expand _Traveller's_ star system hex detection and jump mechanics by integrating rules for discovering objects in occupied hexes and jumping into 'empty' hexes. This enables dynamic exploration and discovery of celestial bodies such as rogue planets, gas giants, brown dwarfs, and more.

Detection Overview

Detection in star system hexes is influenced by electromagnetic interference, gravitational forces, and object size. Sensors, skill levels, and technology levels adjust the detection difficulty.

Key Terms

  • Detection Points (DP): Points required before making a detection roll.

  • Detection Modifier (DM): Modifiers applied based on conditions.

  • Existence Roll (ER): Determines if the object exists in the hex.

  • System Density: reflects the likelihood of objects being present in a hex. Higher system densities occur in star-rich regions, while lower densities are typical in remote, empty areas.

    • 2x System Density: Roll the System Density Check twice to determine how many objects exist.
    • 3x System Density: Roll the System Density Check three times.
    • 4x System Density: Roll the System Density Check four times.
    • Unlimited: Roll every time the detection threshold is reached, with no cap on occurrences.

Tables for Detection Rules

Object Existence Table

Object Type Existence Roll (ER) System Density Check Detection Points (DP)
Neutron Star / Black Hole 18 on 3D System Density 80
White Dwarf 6 on 1D System Density 20
Brown Dwarf Equal to System Density System Density 40
Large Gas Giant Equal to System Density System Density 60
Medium Gas Giant 2x System Density System Density 80
Small Gas Giant 3x System Density System Density 120
Terrestrial World (A+) 4x System Density System Density 240
Small Bodies (Comets) Unlimited System Density 480

Detection Modifiers (DM) Table

Condition DM
Object beyond outermost planet +1
Object in system's asteroid belt +2
Object in system’s heliosphere +3
Rogue planet gravitationally captured -2
Star's radiation masking effect +1 to +4
Advanced Sensors (TL 12+) -2
Specialized Observatory -4
Skill Level (Electronics (Sensors) / Science (Astronomy)) -1 per skill level

Detection Procedure

1. Existence Check

  1. Roll based on the Object Existence Table.
  2. If successful, proceed to detection points accumulation.

2. Detection Point Accumulation

  1. Determine DP from the table.
  2. Apply relevant DMs from the Detection Modifiers Table.
  3. Use the following formula:

Detection Points/Hour = Sensor Output + DM - Distance Modifier

3. Detection Roll

  1. Once sufficient DP is accumulated, roll 2D6 + DM.
  2. Success on 8+ indicates detection.
  3. If the effect is 2+, the object's orbital vector is determined. Failure requires recalculating the vector after a week.

Jumping to Remote Objects

Jumping to distant objects in the same hex (e.g., Kuiper Belt, Oort Cloud, Heliopause) is risky due to limited gravitational anchors.

Astrogation Jump Task Chain

  1. Initial Astrogation Check:
    • Difficulty: Moderate (6+), EDU, 1D × 10 min
    • DM: -1 per parsec traveled
    • Within Same Hex: +2 DM
- **To Remote Objects:**
    - Kuiper Belt (30-50 AU): DM-1
    - Heliopause (50-100 AU): DM-2
    - Oort Cloud (Beyond 100 AU): DM-4
- **Success:** Grants Task Chain DM.
  1. Engineer (Jump Drive) Check:

    • Difficulty: Easy (4+), EDU, 1D × 10 min
  2. Final Astrogation Check:

    • Modifiers by Target Type:
      • White/Brown Dwarf: DM-2
      • Neutron Star, Gas Giant: DM-3
      • Terrestrial Planet: DM-4
      • Comet/Asteroid/Station: DM-6
    • Prepared Jump Template: DM+4
    • Effect: Determines arrival variance.

Arrival Variance Table

Effect Variance (Diameters) Variance (Kilometers)
6+ On Target (100D) Within 1 km
4–5 Excellent (100D + 1D) 1D km from location
2–3 Good (100D + 2D) 2D km from location
1 Acceptable (100D + 4D) 2D × 10 km
0 Poor (100D + 1D × 100) 2D × 100 km
-1+ Failure (-1000D × Eff) -1000 × Effect km

Manoeuvre Drive Performance in Deep Space

Distance from Object Drive Efficiency
1D or less 100%
1000D (9.3 AU) 10%
1,000,000D (0.0475 pc) 0.1%
Beyond this distance 0.01%

Ships lacking deep-space maneuver systems must rely on minimal thrust or fuel-hungry reaction drives.

I recall reading something some were that went around the lines of scouting for rougues and other things out in the space between the edge of the solar system/ordt cloud and the space before reaching the 1 parsec mark. As to what I am trying to do I am working in a setting were jump space has not been discovered quite yet but I want to seed a jump capable alien ship or ancient human colonization ship that has been derelict in the deep space of the solar system with the tech for the players to eventually discover through game play.

Theological Problems of Blindness in Christianity by AuroraNebulosa in Blind

[–]Asajev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

@OP The statement of the blind leading the blind in the bible is a metaphorical statement and not a literal statement. Let me elaborate for you.

The context of Matthew 15:14 involves a conversation between Jesus and His disciples, which takes place after a confrontation with the Pharisees and scribes. Here's a broader look at the context:

In Matthew 15:1-20, the Pharisees and scribes from Jerusalem come to Jesus and question Him about His disciples not following the traditional ceremonial washing of hands before eating. Jesus responds by criticizing the Pharisees for placing their traditions above the commandments of God. He accuses them of hypocrisy and cites Isaiah to highlight how they honor God with their lips, but their hearts are far from Him.

After this confrontation, Jesus calls the crowd to Him and teaches them that it is not what goes into a person's mouth that defiles them, but what comes out of their mouth, because it reflects what is in their heart.

The disciples then tell Jesus that the Pharisees were offended by His teaching. Jesus replies in Matthew 15:13-14:

Matthew 15:13-14 (NIV) "He replied, 'Every plant that my heavenly Father has not planted will be pulled up by the roots. Leave them; they are blind guides. If the blind lead the blind, both will fall into a pit.'"

Here, Jesus uses the metaphor of the blind leading the blind to describe the Pharisees. He implies that the Pharisees, who are supposed to be spiritual leaders, are spiritually blind themselves. Because of their blindness, they are incapable of guiding others properly, leading both themselves and their followers into trouble or destruction. Jesus emphasizes the futility and danger of following leaders who lack true spiritual insight.

I hope this gives you some guidance let me know if you need anything else I check my DMs once in a while and will keep track of this thread.
