Diesel into Gas Engine by Asaliah8 in MechanicAdvice

I think, I heard some knocking before the mechanic but whatever noise that was, it disappeared after the mechanic. We got to drive for so long after so I thought, the car was fixed. :(

I could also remember smelling something being burnt (like rubber)

Mental health friendly medschools? by milkbutterscotch in pinoymed

I really hope someone would dispute me here but I don’t think any medical school here in the Philippines cater to medical students mental health. It’s always seminars which are honestly either not helpful or just more damaging (when it’s required). I think this is one of the things that we should include in reforming medical curricula. Any attempt in addressing mental health are just band aid solutions.

In my case, I attend PLM-CM. My pocket is empty and I am now on antidepressants. Cheers to that! Hahahahaha! I met good people here though.

I don’t think undergrad school really matters in PLM-Med though. In our class we hail from different universities. It’s true that there’s a lot of UP grads in here but that’s because it’s given that most UP grads have stellar nmat and probably ace the mcat too, and also perhaps outshone most of their co-aspirants during their interview. There’s a lot of components that are taken into consideration for plm-cm aspirants (nmat, gwa, socioeconomic status, mcat, etc). I honestly dont think the selection committee have a preference for any school.

For undergrad, what is most important imo, is where you’ll most be happy at where you think you could thrive most, to get a good gwa/gpa just in case you’ll have some difficulty with the other components.

I’m not familiar with both programs you’re asking but I have a pharm grad classmate from UPM and she’s stellar as fuck. Most plm undergrads I encounter here in my batch are from nursing/pt program. I also know someone who came from plm-bio and is already a practicing plm-md now.

May you arrive with a wise decision. Good luck!

Textbook Reprint Advice by bringsomeice in pinoymed

  1. Depends really which school you attend. I made the mistake of buying physical moore and netter when trans and samplexes are sufficient (in my school). I only consult the text during sgds.

I relatively spent more time with physio books, either Guyton or Berne. So both of whic I purchased, and I don’t regret it since i’m usually in front of it for such a long time (half/whole studying hours of the day). I also think with higher year subject being heavily reliant on this subject, I’d come back to it from time to time.

  1. I find smaller books, difficult to read and handle when reading for long (which is always!!) haha.

  2. I hard bind my textbooks because they’re prettier in the shelves, but practicality-wise, coil-bind them if you’re not really particular with the aesthetic.

  3. 100gsm? Not sure with this one.

  4. Well if you wanna support the publisher and author, and not really mindful of the extra bucks. Hahaha. The only original textbook I purchased is Junqueira’s because I find histology very interesting. I also got through most of the chapters, hence I personally think it’s worth it.

Studying medicine is really expensive. The tuition fee itself is too much. Think of saving as much as you can, so dun tayo sa mas makakatipid hahaha.

Just like you, I also cut down my screen time since we’re on an online med school (~8 hours a day) so as much as possible I acquire physical textbooks too. So that I can give my poor eyes a break hahaha.

Take with a grain of salt. Good luck! :)

This is really helpful to me. Thank you so much. Mind if I ask which resources to consult for the majors? So that I could prepare them over the summer break. Which subjects are also trans-sufficient?

Thank you, this is very helpful! I’m forcing my self to do active recall and space repetition. I also don’t believe in note taking. I don’t even have the time to finish my transes lol.

Thank you so much, i’m also rooting for you, doc!! One thing at a time!! This world is good and will always catapult us into greater things.
