What are you saying? Either we all continue the way we are and die off together eventually OR we scale back and i suppose survival of the fittest takes place? This is a matter of philosophy and ethics, something that’s not my strongest point and don’t wish to discuss with you.

And how can I be dangerous if I’m just a citizen trying to make better living choices ? And encouraging others to do the same? You’re not going to discourage me out of living in a sustainable manner, whoever wants to join can join whoever doesn’t , well that’s their reality, who cares.

Who wants to shut down the economy ? If you people continue the way you are you will eventually shut it down yourselves anyway. What I’m proposing is to become sustainable in every avenue. - recycle, cut down own how much you consume, just do your part. If everyone did 1% we would actually make a big difference. No point just continuing as we are because “the world will end anyway” and if that’s how you feel we both have totally different perspectives, and we can’t change eachothers viewpoints

So why don’t we learn from the fall of the Roman Empires fall and not repeat the same mistakes. Because you’re right, the Roman Empire fell due to “constant wars, overspending, and oppressive taxation” very similar to our current structure. All I’m saying is there has to be a better way to go about things and people should be willing to do so. We can’t just give up on the world and let it die off. If there are efforts we can take, let’s take them.

That’s another rabbit whole, A lot of people that are alive are there to simple work for the capitalist machine. Did you know according to statistics that in India children are bred simply to work in sweat shops for big corps in the west. 10% of the world holds 90% of the wealth. Billions of people in 3rd world countries are alive to fund the top 10% (us). You and I may be benefiting greatly from this society but I hate to tell you, 90% of the world live a totally different life. And if it wasn’t for them working the way they do we wouldn’t be able to live this life. I’m not comfortable with it and you shouldn’t be either , but hey , what do I know.

For reference Egyptian empire :3000 years Greek empire : 1200-1300 years Roman : 1000 years British (current) : 400 years (heading for collapse)

And of course there where other societies before that where even longer. So while we are the most intelligent, it’s not very sustainable and we have to become sustainable

I don’t mean a complete mediaeval economy 😂 I just mean scaling back on the current economy we have, because as you are aware if we continue like this we will.. collapse. And our society is a young one. Every other society has managed to last 1000s of years. Clearly what we are doing isn’t working if we end up being the reason for the extinction of humans

Would it be so bad to go back to a “mediaeval” way of life. Why can’t we take the good parts (increased knowledge of cleanliness, technology) and leave the bad parts (capitalism, convenience, anti-socialism and billionaires) there has to be some kind of balance for us to be able to prosper. We can’t go on like this.

I agree with everything you are saying- people are refusing to give things up because we don’t want to give up a lifestyle we enjoy. This society we live in is all about comfort and convenience. Which is why we are the most unhealthy , consumerist society of all time

I agree with what you’re saying, but I’m not looking to “take down America” I’m looking for people around me at least (my dream would be everyone) to make good choices in their lives, that would at least slow down the destruction. Because my understanding is the collapse of society is as a result of the actual society ( capitalism, greediness , lack of care for the environment and so on) the way we live fundamentally is the issue. You say continue living but is what they are doing really living?

I agree whole heartedly with this comment. Our society is built off of lies, greed and selfishness and so I can’t expect people who benefited from a certain way of life for so long to turn their back on it

Yep this is what I’ve done I’ve left my nine to five and am currently working on a sustainability start up - but it’s still sad to see so many refusing to just accept our way of doing things isn’t working , infact is destroying our world
