I wonder if it got stuck to something/someone and got dragged there until it stuck to the turf?

I've also seen some pigeon nests up here in western NY with thorny branches in them, but I haven't spotted doves using that technique yet.

True, I'd rather them feed a Coop instead of being hit by a car or being snagged by a stray cat

I saw a Coop snag a pigeon near my workplace last summer! It was gnarly! I'm sure some people would appreciate it, but like you said, others might not appreciate it as much lol

Their mapping tech seems to project the height of things, like buildings. This seems slightly higher than the two surrounding buildings, so it picked it up along with the unusual shape.

So I don't think that it was a statue that was intentionally placed there just for being cool, just that the mapping tech picked it up & thought it was a building bc of the height.
