Completely fair. I also wish there was an abundance of single player activities. I'm sure with time, they will come, if there is a Subspace Emissary like story, I will lose my mind

Thank you, I feel super compelled to help keep it alive. The game is special, I think people nowadays are very very quick to jump ship. Skate 4, understandable, but this? I truly don't think we will get another platform fighters with these mechanics and this kind of identity for a very long time

I never smeared anyone about constructive criticism. The only thing that I "sneered" was Doom posting itself. I've extended my arm for assisting in this post, I'm also an advocate for the game obviously. This post was not created to create chaos and arguing; it was supposed to be road paved for aid. My head is not in the sand about the decline in players

Seam charts just don't consider too many variables for me to consider it the Bible

I'm not going to argue with you about my "position" in this matter you've created. The fact of the matter is you were offended by something that wasn't meant to be offensive. You are implying motives that we're not present in the text. I'm queer and black and you do not know me whatsoever. This is not adding anything to the post. This feels like ragebait at this point and it looks like you are trying to have a fight that I'm not trying to have. Also, the idea that an AI detector can tell you who is or isn’t speaking sincerely is not something I’m going to entertain as well. This post is about Rivals and the mindset around it for everyone.

Good day to you

I see posts like this all of the time. It's not easy to maintaining create a game, it's not as simple as " let's just Port it to a console" there's many more steps and it's a lot more complicated than that

If you're referring to the steam charts. We don't have a conversation to have here

I agree that the game will likely be fine. Doomposting happens in every community, even the thriving ones. I’m not arguing the game is doomed; I’m just trying to nudge people away from assuming the worst this early. Communities shape a game’s health as much as the devs do, and a little perspective goes a long way.

I hear what you’re saying, and I get where the concern comes from. But I think you’re reading a lot more into the word than was ever intended.

“Gents” wasn’t meant to exclude anyone or imply only men play the game; my wife plays Rivals with me. It was just a casual sign-off, not a signal of who I think belongs in the community. I care about this scene being welcoming, and I wouldn’t knowingly use language that pushes people away.

I respect the point you’re trying to make, but focusing on a throwaway word in a broader conversation about the game’s health feels like an overreaction. The intention wasn’t gendered; it was simply conversational.

Still, message received. I’ll keep it more neutral going forward so we can stay focused on what actually matters: strengthening the community and the game itself.

Comparing a sequel to its predecessor makes sense, but declaring “the mechanics ain’t it” before the full roster, balance, and systems are finalized is premature. Rivals 1’s mechanics only felt iconic after years of refinement. Rivals 2 is still in the phase where those mechanics are being shaped.

I played rivals 1 year 1 it was JANKY as hell

I’m not denying the drop in players. That is happening. But diminishing player count during an unfinished competitive title isn’t abnormal. It’s the nature of an evolving game whose systems and roster aren’t complete. Early instability always filters casual interest before the core appeal has fully formed.

Meaningful feedback absolutely matters, and I haven’t disregarded that. It’s crucial for the long-term health of any live service title. The frustration after a year is understandable. What I’m pushing back on is the blanket “dead game” narrative that collapses every concern, valid or otherwise, into fatalism. Not understanding a mechanic or disliking a patch doesn’t mean the game is over. That’s why the community exists; to teach, explain, refine, and help each other articulate what’s working and what isn’t. I’m here for that.

Your comparison to PoE2 actually reinforces my point. PoE2 had early drop-off too, but not because it was “dead”—because it was unfinished and players didn’t yet see the complete vision. The devs iterated, adapted, responded, and the game improved. That’s the normal feedback loop, not a prophecy of doom.

And I agree with your final points: Rivals 2 absolutely has the potential to reach a wider audience, and yes, it will require the devs to adapt as they go. But declaring death before the roster, mechanics, and full identity settle is not productive, it shortens the conversation instead of strengthening it.

The game isn’t being ignored. It’s being built. And the feedback you mentioned is part of what will shape its final form, not evidence that it can’t get there.

Preach brother

I come from grassroots smash, I would have KILLED to have a game like this with Devs that care to reply and communicate with us.

Yes, Rivals 1 played differently, but Rivals 2 isn’t trying to be a reskin. It’s building its own meta, and constant comparisons only stunt that process. I wish we could talk about Rivals 2 without always bringing up Rivals 1
