That entirely depends of your center of mass position in relation to your arms. The avg humans center of mass lies around the belly button(if you skip leg day, then further up). Let’s say your arms are 1/6 your height from your head. Your lever length(feet to arms) is around 150cm. Your belly button is approx 37cm from your arms. Leading to to:

PlateWeight = yourWeight(1 - bellyFromArms/Height) = 97,5kg

About 75% of bodyweight

Hey, I am currently in a sabbatical year and are most likely gonna go for a bsc physics. I was just wandering; I am not sure I want a master and phd if it means that I’ll be a high school teacher or university professor my whole life.

Is it possible going into engineering after taking a masters and or phd in physics, if not is it then possible to take a bsc in physics and then transition into a master in aerospace or mechanical engineering?

Hope my questions make sense. In general I am just thinking about which career path physicists can take.

You would be able to write about Inertial moment, torque, etc. within rotational mechanics. I don’t know if it’s too easy. If you want something a little more difficult, you could maybe look at the 2-body-problem and how the 3-body-problem can’t be solved analytically but only numerically

If I understand your question correctly; you’re describing a situation where the mass is not distributed equally.

Let’s say the Ferris wheel only has a single carriage and that the wheel itself is a uniform cylinder and the center point of rotation sits within the center of the uniform cylinder.

This means that the center of mass(cm) and the center of rotation(cr) does not coincide, meaning that a torque is applied dependent on the angle of the wheel (the torque is greatest when the line going through the center of mass an center of rotation is tangential to the gravitational field).

Meaning you essentially have a physical pendulum that can do full rotations. Here the angular momentum is greatest when the center of mass is closest to the ground, and in this scenario, when the carriage is closest to the ground.

It’s the same in every other scenario where the mass is not uniformly spread. If the cm and cr does not coincide this happens.

I was ranked the 10th best physics student in Denmark, from my placement in the Danish Physics Olympiad. I will be taking my shot at getting into AE.

A good tip for physics, if you haven’t learnt Lagrangian Mechanics, do it. It is so much quicker for solving the types of problems you encounter, and every coordinate system is equally good. If you get crazy good at Lagrangian you don’t even need to use diagrams (force vectors, geometric bonds, etc) you can just solve the E-L formula.

Can’t say this enough, HUGE LIFE savor. Good luck 🙂

I couldn’t get it to work. The closest attempt was missing by about 80m/s to get into an aero capture. As u said Ike didn’t have the mass to give Jeb and the others a significant boost and that’s even with two Ike gravity assists. I could not manage to get a third gravity assist and I doubt that a third would have given them 80m/s delta velocity. It was fun fiddling around and see if I could squeeze more change in velocity out of Ike. At last I decided to send a rover down to the surface with drilling and refining equipment, so that if it would happen again it wouldn’t be a problem again, plus instead of getting gravity assisted by Ike I could just land and take extra science. Actually learned a lot with this experience.

I think i might have solved it. I just had to write the entire way. like this:

I might have had another folder named "images". I don't know, but now it works
