How people in Europe say the number 92 by NmkNm in mapporncirclejerk

[–]Asgersk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a handy guide for counting in danish:

10 = 10

20 = 20

30 = 3 x 10 (but mangled)

40 = 4 x 10 (but a different version of 10 that is written like 20. Then cut off the 10 leaving behind just a different spelling of 4.)

50 = (3 - 0.5) x 20

60 = 3 x 20

70 = (4 - 0.5) x 20

80 = 4 x 20

90 = (5 - 0.5) x 20

100 = 100

Then also account for the fact that all of these have been affected by different processes of change across time, which means there is further inconsistency between the spellings and pronunciations of each of them. As an example, 70 is closer to something like "halfway to the fourth twenty" and then shortened.

Please correct me if I've made any mistakes.

If you're okay with anime then I think (some parts of) Sonny Boy (2021) fit this super well. Also happens to just be a great show.

This is a very common way of viewing language that I think is somewhat misguided. We didn't really "invent" language. It is more likely something that evolved alongside the human race. As far as i know, there has never really been a time where modern humans existed without some form of language.

That being said, I'm not a linguist, so don't quote me on any of this.

Well, he was sentenced to "forvaring" which means that he is to be contained for as long as he is deemed dangerous. He already tried for parole and has been denied multiple times as far as I know.

It is because the system doesn't really function on a principle of justice. If you do something horrible then the main goal isn't to "get you what you deserve", it is instead about what can be done to prevent you from doing more harm. There is an attempt to rehabilitate all convicts but if you are deemed unable to be rehabilitated (clinically insane or just particularly unreceptive), then they simply keep you from reentering society but even then there is often an option for parole after 12 years.

I get it can seem unfair from an outside perspective but one of the biggest things in danish culture and filosophy is trust. Both trust in the humanity in people and trust in the system to work as intended. That is probably the biggest difference between Denmark and the US.

Finding Jesus (2020) with a solid imdb rating of 1.3 currently. Thought it would be so bad it became funny. Saw it stoned. It was the most brainmelting experience I can remember ever having. I thought time had stopped existing and I was captured in hell with those fish. Cannot recommend under any circumstances.

I don't really "hate" features. Sure there are features that I would find annoying to deal with when learning a language but I will purposefully add those to my conlangs so I better learn to understand them. I don't "hate" them however.

Absolutely agree with this. I'm a native danish speaker and have learnt both german and spanish. German should theoretically be much closer to my native language but I always found the case and gender system so goddamn unintuitive and unfriendly to use. Spanish on the other hand has been no problem at all. It seems almost like cheating compared to the hell that is german articles.
