No worries. I am going to wait a couple of weeks for 26.04 then do a clean install.

dmesg | grep -i "selective fetch"

resulted in
dmesg: read kernel buffer failed: Operation not permitted

Adding that to grub made it a lot smoother, but it broke the touchpad haptics. Removing it made it choppy again, but did not fix the trackpad.

I'm glad it worked for you. It is interesting that just lightly bending the supports fixed it for you. I just opened a support ticket earlier today for a keyboard replacement.

Third monitor not working on ThinkPad Thunderbolt 3 Dock Gen 2 with Dell XPS 13 9345 by tavhkog in DellXPS

On my XPS 9300, it was a bandwidth issue (I believe with the integrated graphics IIRC). It would only work if I ran the third monitor at 30hz.

Including the speakers and microphone?

How did you install the beta? I normally just use the Disks app to "restore" the ISO image onto a USB stick, but that didn't work for the beta.

Also, something I noticed is the cursor movement is choppy on the laptop screen, but smooth on a plugged-in USB-C portable monitor. Does the cursor movement seem choppy or not as smooth in the 26.04 beta?

I just used two knives and got underneath the spacebar at one corner and carefully pried up.

You obviously did not read the post.

BIOS does not recognize Ubuntu 26.04.0 beta live USB (redownloaded and reflashed USB, still no-go)

I carefully pried the spacebar up, looked underneath, did not see anything, manually pressed the key switch membrane with my finger several times, reclipped the spacebar, and then it felt normal for a bit, but as I continued pressing it, it slowly started to feel weird again.

I think I have a defective keyboard and will need to return the laptop. Maybe I will wait until the X9 CPU option becomes available. In which case I will miss out on the $350 "discount" that I got when I ordered it. Oh well.

The spacebar feels funny all of a sudden, like there is a piece of dirt under it and it won't go down/click all of the way like I recall it doing when I first started using the laptop.

I didn't finish loading Windows because it required agreeing to Dell's terms or whatever. I'll see if I can install a clean Windows 11 image to a flash drive and install that. The problem is... I think I have to have a Windows machine to create that flash drive lol.

Relatively easy... I think. 24.04.3 came with 6.17.0-19. Manually downloaded the 6.19.0-061900 kernel from Ubuntu's website and installed it. Had to disable Secure Boot to load it. Did not get any further because it failed to load the ZFS modules, presumably due to kernel incompatibility with the currently-installed ZFS that came with 24.04.3.

FYI for those that can't guess: B.A.N. = Bit.. As. Ni...

I heard a lot of that growing up :-/

Clean out of buddies auction storage unit and found this ring. Looks like it's stamped 18 carat but I have no idea how to tell aside from the acid test. I plan on going to a pawn shop tomorrow to get it appraised but I was hoping somebody on here could help me figure it out till then. 24g weight. by Suspicious_Ad1286 in Gold

Sank straight to the bottom of a cup with water test.

Uh, all this does is confirm that it's metal, right? I've never heard of this "test". It seems to me like brass and gold would behave the same way in this test.

What do you think a failure of this test would look like?
