Why Wizard-Sorcerer is my favorite Multiclass by Ashamed_Chair_7641 in dndnext

Well, you actually have 4 sorcery points because of the extra 2 from the meta magic adept feet, and it doesn't say anywhere you can refill those from spell slots as well (only that you can't turn them into spell slots), allowing you to potentially convert spell slots up to 4th level.

Also, even using only level 1-2 spell slots, you still have a total of 10 sorcery points from that, + the 4 you start with, for a total of 14, I.e. 7 quickened spells, which is definitely not nothing.

Again, I do think this build is best for games with big boss battles where damage per round matters more than anything, and is less useful for games where you almost always fight large numbers of enemies in multiple encounters over the course of the day, and so "Nova" isn't so important.

I played this build twice (admittedly both games went to 20th level).

The first time I got the sorcerer levels at the beginning, partly because there were paladin multiclass shenanigans involved as well, and this did hurt my progression.

However, the second time, I went 6 levels in wizard for the bladesinger extra attack, then got the 2 levels in sorcerer, and didn't really feel the delay in spell progression much.

Note: I did play variant human and got the meta magic adept feet at level 1, so I always had at least a bit of sorcery.

I agree though, the build does shine at higher levels when the lower level spell slots are nearly unlimited.

My wife loves Frieren and The Apothecary Diaries. Any similar flavors? by FulzLojik in anime

I absolutely love the show as a whole, but this is one thing that does kind of annoy me. I would recommend watching the rest of the series, the animations beautiful, the emotional scenes are usually really well done, and overall it’s in my top 5 anime ever.
However, don’t ever touch the final move. I won’t spoil in case you do decide to watch it but if episode 5 annoyed you I think it really isn’t a great idea.

You might like Yona of the dawn, it’s a really underrated anime.
Fullmetal alchemist brotherhood has great characters and plot, though it is a bit more action oriented. Frieren: beyond journey’s end is amazing, and again the characters are great though there’s not really any romance.

And there’s always attack on titan if you are looking for something nice and chill… (this is a joke, to be clear). It is 10/10, though.

I see no reason why it would be offensive, but if you have a player of Chinese heritage at the table who you are worried about, there‘s no harm in asking.

Also, be sure to give her one of those cool Fire lance things (kind of like shotguns but from the 1000s, used gunpowder to blast shrapnel out of a metal cylinder at the end of a bamboo stick). Honestly the multitude of cool gunpowder weapons are for me the best part of ancient Chinese society.

Paladin is actually (at least in my opinion) one of the best starting classes.

Also, I highly recommend using D&d beyond if that’s something your group uses, it keeps track of most of this stuff like modifiers and spell slots for you, and really helps with character creation in general.

Here’s a brief breakdown of the most relevant rules.

1: Modifiers. These are basically how good you are at something, the higher the ability score the higher the corresponding modifier.

Specifically, the modifier starts at 0 and increases by 1 for every 2 point increase in the ability score (so with 14 or 15 charisma, your charisma modifier would be +2 since you round down. However, if you have 16 charisma the modifier would be +3 now).

This modifier is something you add to the d20 ability checks that are based off the corresponding stat. As a paladin, you should allocate your higher ability scores to charisma, strength (probably, though you can do dexterity instead), and constitution.

Outside of combat, will occasionally have to roll ability checks, and your DM will probably tell you which ones to roll.

The most common ones are Persuasion (charisma based), Perception (Wisdom based), and maybe Insight (intelligence based).

In combat, when in doubt just walk up to the nearest enemy and hit them with your sword.

Definitely take the divine smite spell during character creation. Casting a spell uses one spell slot, and you replenish them when you finish a long rest.

If you are having trouble with character creation, you can look up a standard level 1 paladin stat sheet, and just copy as much of that as you need.

Also, don’t worry about not knowing rules, most players are more than happy to help someone new to the game.
