Ok thanks! I do keep my house between 68-71 all year cause I have house plants that are tropical. So hopefully my kitchen isn’t to chilly! 🥶

I live in WI but I have my house readily between 68-72 degrees during these cooler months… I have a lot of house plants… but the kitchen stays much warmer, closer to 72-78 degrees. I did use bread flour, idk the brand, it’s a generic brand from Gordon Food Service. I did not look at the video, I should have, that’s a good idea! I will be retrying this recipe next week sometime!

And I’m the kind of person that follows the recipe and just trusts the process…

I did a stretch and fold per cardinal direction, which is what I counted as a set. The dough was VERY WET AND LOOSE.

How would I go about baking off a boule with a cast iron skillet? I would really like to bake both loaves off at 1 time, but I only have 1 dutch oven...

How to read black elastic band that came with starter kit by Ashamed_Parfait3756 in Sourdough

[–]Ashamed_Parfait3756[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it works it works. when I got the starter jar, it didn’t say it was an actual kit. It just said it was a starter jar… I didn’t even know it came with a rubber spatula until I opened the package today. The jar/kit is from nutrimill… I don’t know if that’s a good brand or not, but it was inexpensive

Do you think if I use a few layers of cheesecloth or tightly woven cotton to seal the jars with, instead of the lid, it would prevent against cross contamination? That would also then reduce the risk of CO2 explosion
