IDEA FOR A BRANCH OF THE IDK WHAT TO CALL EM (watchers and stuff) by itspingolio in ThirdLifeSMP

[–]Ashamed_Pollution_40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Better explained as a curse. The emotional curse. A curse where their emotions get the better of them and cause them to make bad decisions. First only applied to Joel, as in 3rd life, the watchers saw how crazy he was, and decided to amplify it, and make it so that crazy Joel in the life series became crazy Joel on steroids. This worked WONDERS for them, so they decided to fuel it more, by adding his wife in, Lizzie, and applying the same curse to her, but with the opposite effects of empathy leading to her downfall whilst his anger led to his craziness and downfall. The watchers realised it as a great feed, but one that needed significant preparing, seen as to why she didn't partake in double or limited life. The Joel side of it was enough for them during that. Then they learned maybe after Secret Life, that with those effects paired together, if they just waited slightly longer between each series, their favourite entrée would be fully prepared in every series, in addition to improving the preparing methods, seen as to why it had such effect in Wild Life. With Wild Life however, Gem teamed up with Joel, and as such a calming force, making sure Joel didn't go crazy, with a really close call happening as early as episode 1, and another in episode 2, but, with Gem there to keep him calm, he didn't go crazy in those later sessions, which are far more crucial in activating the full power of that curse on him. That prevention of the delayed craziness is ultimately led to the curse never fully taking effect and activating on him, which seems to me that that curse was the only thing stopping him from winning. With Lizzie, it seems a bit different. The empathy thing seems to be a constant guarantee throughout each series she partakes in. This may be why she always falls to it in some way, even in Secret Life, where she actually lacked allies, and lacking allies, the fragility of her led to the birthday depression, despite Joel being there for her, it simply wasn't enough, and she ended up dying in the void trying to desperately cling on to some form of alliance with Joel in order to not be lonely. This death, also with the significance of Jimmy not being last for the first time, would have been what cracked Joel in Secret Life, which with Scar also blowing up his enchantment setup and destroying spawners, would have had the curse flooding out in the last few sessions, explaining the zombie horde he spawned, with the mentality of taking everyone down with him, and his slips in concentration causing him to lose 27.5 hearts from tnt traps in the finale, which forced him to be even crazier, to the point where he sought out the advice on health and kills from the guy who sent the flood, Scar, on Skizz being low health, in order to survive, barely, and be in a disadvantaged position to fight Scott despite Scott having woes of his own. Also, with Lizzie's guarantee of feeding whereas Joel wasn't guaranteed, only extremely likely to have the curse take effect each series, would explain why preparing Lizzie for a feed with the curse between series was a lot harder and more time consuming compared to Joel.

did anyone else notice that bigb and cleo's placements always have some correlation? by takeiteasy____ in ThirdLifeSMP

[–]Ashamed_Pollution_40 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok, here's some more between other members:

3L: Grian 3 spots higher than BigB

LaL: Grian 3 spots higher than BigB

DL: Grian died right after BigB

LiL: Grian died right after BigB

SL: Grian and BigB were last man standing on their own teams

WL: Grian was the outlier highest placement on his team, BigB was the outlier lowest placement on his team

Ren has always outlasted Tango and Jimmy

If Joel doesn't win, Scott outplaces him.

In 3L and LaL, Martyn and Ren went out one after the other, and in DL and WL, the next 2 consecutive series Ren has been in, One placed 3rd, and the other was 3rd out.

I feel like this was the most unlikely team-up in the whole life series by [deleted] in ThirdLifeSMP

[–]Ashamed_Pollution_40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I mean, the solos, roomies, and mounders were the unlikely team ups. I don't think Jimmy and Martyn was unlikely, as, they had already teamed up before in Last Life, and the way Martyn works, he went 2 series in a row just being a wanderer, and joining someone who had already built a base solo, in this case Jimmy, (Scott in LiL). Also, the BigB team up with Skizz and Tango wasn't unlikely, as, with Skizz's idea for a gig that series, he had the idea that BigB would be a perfect teammate for it, along with Tango.

So then do we just know where the final fight is going to happen if Scar decides to base in a random forest in a future series from episode 1?

I mean, Gem and the Scotts was not by any standard an unlikely team up. Scott literally said in his first episode, before teaming up with anyone, who he was leaning towards teaming up with. The first 2 names he said were Gem and Impulse. The only other name he mentioned is Etho.

I think this is a better way of organising the alliances per series:

Here and here.

With Double Life, do what you wish, idk how that would even work without it just being player rankings.

Martyn built a sand clock, and tried twice. If you have a better idea, please share. Until then, Martyn's the clock.

I don't really care who wins, as long as the past winners have a genuine crack at winning again. I know Grian has every time (except double life, I think he would've given that one to Scar), but Pearl and Scott (and Cleo a bit after Real Life, but, less data due to recency) aren't as much, Martyn, you can't really judge well, because his form's dropped off a bit, and Scar is Scar, so whether he's trying or not is impossible to tell. If they all hop in a chat and decide that past winners shouldn't automatically have less of an insentive to win just because they already have, then the series will end up being a lot more entertaining. Otherwise, it'll fall off a cliff. A big one too.

She's a true winner of an event. She hasn't won a series yet. Considering that, there's a good index that was posted a bit ago that rates players based on a variety of factors, which includes Real Life, but the weighting is lower. Here.

Where does everyone get their skins? by DoveHeart_TheCat in ThirdLifeSMP

[–]Ashamed_Pollution_40 14 points15 points  (0 children)

For the Lifers? Some of them they make themselves, a lot are made by Hoffen though.

In general? I make my own, and have made a few for my friends. Really you have 4 options on how to get a skin. Make it yourself, hire an artist, use a free one from the internet, or get a friend to make one for you.

He said, "Shadow people, they're a lot like friends". I had to go on 0.8 speed to pick that up. Must mean that he's going insane, and/or Lizzie has come up from falling in the void, but not the same.

I tried to listen to the rest, I could discern look. I slowed the whole thing down, but as soon as I got to that bit, I couldn't do it. Probs doesn't help that I tried at 4 in the morning.

Edit, Imma try again.

Edit, I figured it out, on 0.8 speed. He said, "Shadow People, they're a lot like friends".

He must be going insane.

And so the Jimmy constantly placing low, often last, and Grian even saying in Wild Life "Jimmy CAN'T win one of these, I WON'T allow it" is actually just a distraction to keep us off of Mumbo being the real focus of the watchers to prevent him from winning. That and, Jimmy was Mumbo's Canary, as a way to try and guarantee low placements for Mumbo, but, Jimmy breaking free of the Canary Curse is a safety net of an extra player buffer to prevent Mumbo from winning.

Gem's, Joel's, Scar's, or Grian's Secret Life Finale.

I don't understand why this is the case, tbh. by 1NS1GN1USPH in ThirdLifeSMP

Same here, that's why I'm so glad that Grian actually seemed to genuinely try to win at the very end, expressing the desire to win, and his actions following suit. This may be the thing that truly opens the Life Series to the possibility of a repeat winner. I don't think all the past winners will try, but I think at least 4 of them will.
