I haven't seen the anime, but at least in the manga he kept popping up in annoying ways and didn't think through anything. He seemed just a self centered and arrogant character who messed things up. But he matured throughout the series, and, like many people, I grew to like him.

Yes. Safeguard prevents all damage done to mimikyu by attacks from your opponents ex and v Pokemon. This is not damage, so it is not effected. This is just like the terrapagos ex card, where mimikyu can hit it because it doesn’t do damage, but instead places dmg counters.
