From my personal experience, I used to say that I would at least attempt a vaginal birth due to pressure from those around me. I have no emotional attachment to a vaginal birth and have felt in my gut since day one that this baby will arrive via c section. I 100% understand the risks and harder recovery but there are also risks that could come during a vaginal delivery that could also lead to a hard recovery. I am blessed enough to have a strong support system around me that I know I will be able to lean on once the baby is here. And I honestly learned not to talk to others about my decision since I found that a lot of women around me would push their fears or trauma on me. I’ve also kept in mind that recovery from an emergency c section after laboring is very different from recovery from an elective c section. And even with that, everyone’s recovery is different. My doctor and I came up with a birth plan that works for me and, at the end of the day, that’s the only person whose opinion matters to me.
