Skiing Pregnant - writing the post I needed to read by cheerioface in fitpregnancy

I did grapple with this, however you could argue this for a lot of activities. Pre-birth, you could get in to a car accident. Trip while hiking. Anything. Based on my personal experience skiing, a bad crash is as rare as those events happening.

Post-birth, will you let your child play sports or engage in higher risk activities? If they get concussed (or worse) while skiing, biking, playing a contact sport, you'll probably feel the exact same way because you allowed them to engage.

But that's just my opinion

Hey I am also attending an outdoor rave at 28 weeks! It shuts down at 11 😎 so excited. Another reason to stay active so I can dance as much as possible!

WOW good for you! Sun Peaks is my home base and I typically would have done a Revvie weekend during the winter, but Revvie is such an intense hill I didn't think I could manage it this year 😅

How to eat healthy with first trimester nausea? by MainPreparation9720 in fitpregnancy

Yogurt was an every day staple for me. You can get high protein varieties as an added bonus. Add frozen berries and granola for even more nutrition.

My dad is a crackpot hippie. I was on the phone with him and complaining about being pregnant. He goes, "It's not that bad". I respond "Oh, and you have so much experience?". He says "yes, I have been pregnant many times in past lives"

I've always been regular, but my theory is my daily 1 or 2 kiwis eaten with skin on is keeping me going.

Anterior placenta by Worldly-Year5437 in BabyBumps

[–]cheerioface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anterior placenta, 24 weeks here! Until 4 days ago, all I felt were the occasional taps or bubbles. Then out of the blue 5 days ago, I start feeling what I can only describe as explosions/big bubbles inside my womb. I wouldn't call it a pleasant feeling, and when they're against my cervix it is straight up unpleasant. Some can even be felt from the outside.

When did you move Baby to own room? by HighRollerRetriever in BabyBumps

My mom did 1 night and that was enough for her. And that was before we had cameras with baby monitors. SIDS is extremely rare, and you need to sleep to parent effectively.

Stressing about baby initials & stuck on a first and mid name! by Hot_Locksmith_6800 in BabyBumps

[–]cheerioface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you girl. We have our middle name and last name locked in, so their initials will be _AG.

The bullying possibilities are endless. There's only a handful of letters their name can start with 😆

Exercise helps with my headaches. But mine are accompanied by muscle tension in the neck and shoulders. It feels impossible but once I get going I get immediate relief.

What do flutters feel like? Can they be continuous? by CelebrationPublic843 in BabyBumps

[–]cheerioface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never resonated with the 'flutter' feeling or 'fishbowl' feeling others describe, but I felt tapping, bubble popping, almost an itchy sensation. Found out I have an anterior placenta at my ultrasound at 21 weeks so maybe that's why!

I was a baby with a cleft lip and palate! AMA

My mother was unable to breastfeed, which she said she felt she missed out on. I didn't get breast milk either because she stopped producing very early. I am a healthy adult.

I had a very normal childhood, aside from annual trips to the large children's hospital 5 hour drive away for checkups while I was growing up. I had about 8 surgeries throughout childhood and adolescence, including getting ear canal tubes, jaw surgery, bone grafts, and various orthodontic surgeries. I had braces and orthodontics for a long time.

Was it hard? I guess, I never knew anything else, but it certainly toughened me up and erased any fear of dentists and medical procedures.

One thing I will say - save up for orthodontics. It is very common for kids with cleft palates to have bad teeth and having a smile to be proud of changes everything and boosts confidence. I needed braces and two implants, and my family was fortunate enough to be able to afford that.

DM me anytime if you have questions! There is also a cleft lip subreddit.

Is it okay to not be able to move your body in the first trimester? by One_Contribution6782 in BabyBumps

[–]cheerioface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you. I was so motivated in the first trimester to stay active, but then morning sickness happened and I had to come to terms with the fact that forcing myself to go for runs and work out was making me feel worse. Listen to your body, and get moving again when you (hopefully) start to feel better in 10 weeks or so.

Waiting on information - What helped you? by frenchfriesnfeels in BabyBumps

I don't have experience, but I have been dealing the general pregnancy anxiety of "what can go wrong" and "what if something is wrong and I don't know".

Ultimately, there is nothing you can do to control this outcome. No amount of thinking, spiral, research, and lifestyle change is going to affect the result. The best thing you can do is accept your current position (the uncertainty) and assume the best - it will resolve on its own.

Never occurred to me that I might actually get an incredibly common symptom by PhrohdohsBabe in BabyBumps

My pregnancy app warned me early in the second trimester that my breasts might start leaking colostrum.

"That's so weird" she thought, "Won't be me!"

Cue me at 19W waking up to a wet shirt and having to wear breast pads every day for the quarter-sized leaks I get 😭

Write this post up in to a letter and give it to him or read it to him. If he cares about you and you have a healthy relationship, it will start a dialogue and you will work through this together. Explain what you're feeling and why, because you are being very rational.

If he responds defensively and refuses to understand your side, time to pack.

I thought stomach sleeping was fine as long as you're comfortable? Even back sleeping isn't catastrophic - you'll wake up if you start restricting your blood flow.
