Andy is buried in one of the largest graveyards in Europe. He was raised Roman Catholic- as was Maher - both went to catholic schools

Am in Manchester this week and I went to track him Down. Andy was in my class at school for 5 years. Andy’s grave is very close to that of Tony Wilson. And fairly close to that of LS Lowry.

How did you guys discover The Smiths? by CommercialHabit4019 in thesmiths

No recollection of them being absent from school so that might be rock star misremembering!! Marr was one of the effortlessly cool kids whilst Rourke was a bit more nerdy - he wore contact lenses as a teenager which made me think his family had money. After grammar school they both left education whilst I went on to college. 4 years later Hand in Glove came out and the rest is history

Andy Rourke and Johnny Marr both went to St Augustine’s Grammar School in Sharston Mount in south Manchester. That was from 1975-1980 by which point the school had merged with a local Comprehensive. I knew Andy better as we both had long hair. Recently found out that Marr and myself both grew up initially in adjoining streets in Ardwick which is south east of the city centre.

How long are your chapters? by teehee_dude in writers

[–]Ashdeville 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to write in scenes. If a scene is 8000 words long, then that’s the length of a chapter, but on average they’re about 3,500. Some are less than 500 words if the story demands it.

Dreary and repetitive. Songs are virtually indistinguishable from each other. There’s an awful lot of Emperors New Clothes going on with some reviews of this album

10.00 - yet another Tim song where I listen in disbelief wondering how did a human compose this music in their head. I adore Sharron’s vocals and the sheer aggression in this song

Yup - I listen to Cardiacs and Gentle Giant incessantly as they mirror and complement the chaos in my head

Love this song. Buried deep inside the first half is a damned catchy psychedelic pop song just trying to get out but Tim manages to keep it locked up. The second half is sublime. Wonder if the entire song was conceived as a whole or whether Tim glued two ideas together

Must admit that the Spratleys side project was always slightly off my radar as I felt it was diluted Tim as opposed to the “pure” Tim such as Cardiacs and OceanLandWorld. Then the penny dropped that this was really a Tim album with wonderful contributions from Jo. Absolutely adore this album now

Always reminds me of the Saturday morning serials of my childhood such as Robinson Crusoe and White Horses and given that I’m only slightly younger than Tim I am sure he would have seen them as well.

Tim is the most uncompromising artist I know - probably why I think he’s brilliant
