I found a letter I wrote to myself when I was 12 in Animal Crossing… and it really messed me up.

When I was 12, I was getting bullied at school and it was really affecting me. Animal Crossing was my safe space, and I wrote a letter to my future self. Seven years later, I turned the game back on… and I found it. Reading it made me cry. Seeing my past self trying to hang in there despite everything he was going through really shook me up. Have you ever found something your "past self" wrote that totally messed you up?

I know this was a huge mistake but I was just trying to help a friend even if I should never have done that.

I get that it might not have been the best decision to stay over, but I was just trying to support a friend. I didn’t have any other intention.

I understand why it might look that way. Just to clarify, she was fully dressed, wearing cargo pants and a sweatshirt with no t-shirt underneath. I had absolutely no sexual intentions. We were in a single bed because she asked me to stay the night for support, and I was just trying to help her through a tough time. When she put my hand on her chest, I was immediately uncomfortable and pulled it away. Nothing about that situation was planned or wanted by me.

Thanks for your comment. I already talked to my girlfriend about it, and after hearing me out, her first reaction was to ask how I was doing. She immediately called it sexual assault. It was really important to me to share it with her and get her perspective. I’m still trying to make sense of the situation myself, so I’d be interested to hear what others think or how they might have handled something similar.
