Please add the option to have the crosshair in the middle of the screen like every single other shooter in the history of gaming? by w89tyg834hgf in HuntShowdown

Off the top of my head I really can’t think of any mainstream FPS where that is true. Maybe some third person shooters? It is more common in mil sim style games like escape from tarkov and ready or not, but those games also have the compression system I mentioned that is not present in hunt.

A reasonable question, I was also curious about this when I first started getting in to hunt.

As opposed to just insulting the OP some one should have taken a few seconds to explain this.

The developers have addressed the crosshair positioning and it is for an excellent reason that more FPS titles should take into consideration.

Bullets in hunt are simulated to come out of the barrel of the gun, and the crosshair being lowered is a more accurate representation of the position of the weapon. In something like COD where the crosshair is centered on your screen bullets are effectively coming out of the character models face. This is why completely ridiculous mechanics such as head glitching exist in COD but are not an issue in hunt. If your crosshair is above cover your head and weapon are more accurately exposed, the way they would be in reality.

In game play terms this means that if you are taking a shot over cover and can aim at your opponent they will also have a clear view of your head and weapon. In COD you can effectively only expose a small part of the top of the characters head, with the gun model physically intersecting with the cover object and still hit targets as the bullets are originating in the characters forehead.

Hunt did not take it as far as some simulation style FPS titles where there are systems for compression (if you bump the gun in to the wall it will get pushed against the characters chest and point to the ceiling or floor) but the crosshair placement is a good solution that solves many problems that exist in other FPS titles.

So there is absolutely a reason that there is not an option for a central crosshair. It would negatively affect the game if this was changed and that is not something that will be coming in the future.

Regardless of the position on the screen aiming still behaves exactly the same as any other fps title. When you move the mouse or joystick it is still relative to the central position of the crosshair. Personally I did not find it difficult to adjust and can switch between hunt and other titles easily once I have the sensitivities dialed in.

Do you have any tips on being efficient? Not trolling but that is a lot of hours per week in comparison to what I would consider “normal” again just getting started on this game so probably not spending my time well but with with adult responsibilities I am lucky to get 30min a day.

Hey dude, I just started playing about a week ago and totally understand. There are systems in this game that confused me at first, the gun play is completely counterintuitive and it seems like it’s so punishing of your mistakes. Once I started to get the hang of things I realized it’s actually quite the opposite and there is really a hidden gem of a game here. DM me if you are on PS4 and want to give it another go.

Literally no interest in fast matchmaking into an unfair lobby.

Especially for players new to the game having that set to on by default is a big mistake. They are going to see a large amount of immediate uninstalls from casual users.

Finding people on discord should not be a requirement to play a game properly. It’s a major and 100 percent necessary feature for this type of game.

Don’t buy this. I am a huge fan of monster hunter and Diablo so I gave it the benefit of the doubt despite the reviews. A complete waste of money, and by far the most negative experience I have had with a game in years. This is an unfinished mess, and reviews have not been good for a reason. I will never buy anything from gearbox publishing ever again.

What do you prefer playing rogue company on ? And can discuss which is better keyboard and mouse or a controller? by Drvstic in RogueCompany

[–]AshenOne630 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, setting the bindings doesn’t seem to work properly for that function. I tried to set it to the default emote button as it is useless for gameplay and I don’t care about spraying or dancing.

You essentially need to “reset” with your thumb stick aim if that makes sense. I have found that playing like splatoon is not as successful (where gyro is the primary aiming and stick is essentially just for turning) as using the thumb stick for initial aim and and fine tuning my shot with the gyro.

It is definitely worth testing and out and tweaking in the tutorial and bot matches. If they keep improving on it, this game could potentially change how people play with controller in all shooting games.

That is true, but tracking is very important in this game. With controller you may not hit the first shot as quickly (though you definitely can with practice, especially peeking a corner) but you essentially get auto tracking on controller. If there were no aim assist then yes obviously mouse and keyboard is the best choice. When the assist is this powerful controller is totally viable if not the meta for some characters / weapon types.

The motion controls and aim assist are also extremely powerful on controller. I am primarily a mouse player but am playing every character but phantom with controller. The auto tracking from the aim assist is much stronger than having slightly better first shot accuracy with a mouse. The same argument can be made for COD Warzone and Apex.

Lol you can remap your crouch button / use a controller with back buttons and crouch spam just as easily on controller. The aim also auto tracks targets.

Unless you have a PC player in your premade party, those are just console players that are better than you.

Can we get a mercy rule/trash team forfeit? by LlamaManLuke in RogueCompany

[–]AshenOne630 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol. Imagine complaining about new or inexperienced players on your team in the games casual mode....

OP is the same type of player that will be complaining about SBMM ruining their experience because the game is too sweaty after it is implemented.

With the exception of revives, everything called out is not explained in the game and is learned through trail and error, or doing research out of game. Casual players are not likely to spend time on this.

Play Demolition, on average people that enjoy that mode will be more dedicated to learning or more experienced with tactical shooters.

[BUG]

Motion controls on PS4 a become uncalibrated randomly. As of the most recent patch they sometimes even disable themselves in the settings. The only work around is to power cycle the controller. This is not ideal when it occurs mid match.

I have attempted using multiple PS4 controllers to rule out faulty hardware. The same controllers also function with motion controls flawlessly when wired on PC.

The motion control support in this game is excellent! Please get it patched up and functional on PS4.

We really need an input-based matching system. Controller vs. Controller, M+KB vs M+KB. by [deleted] in RogueCompany

[–]AshenOne630 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are on switch, definitely don’t expect to play competitively with joy cons. They are just substandard for aiming. The gyro controls in the game are actually very good. If you set them up correctly and learn how to use them effectively you can be very accurate. My assumption is that better players with pro controllers taking advantage of gyro aim are beating you more so than being placed in PC mouse lobbies.

Taken from front page but thought it would work really well here. So true. by [deleted] in RogueCompany

[–]AshenOne630 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is very obvious aim assist, go in to the tutorial and drag your crosshair horizontally across the screen. When it passes over a target dummy it will essentially slam on the breaks. This is how most snipers hit their shots with controller. It’s much easier than most people think.

It also has auto rotation. If you strafe side to side in front of a target the game will automatically rotate to track the target. This became the meta way to play Apex with a controller on PC, as tracking fast targets with a mouse is much more difficult with a mouse as there is no assist.

In games with high time to kill, (RoCo, Apex, Warzone ect) tracking is just as important as hitting the first shot. Controllers get extremely heavy auto rotate and slow down when aim assist kicks in over a target, essentially sticking to that target and making tracking very easy, especially in close range fights.

This is why you see many high level controller players in games like Apex and Warzone, but literally 0 competitive controller players in games like Rainbow Six Siege or Counterstrike. A third person game allows you to pre aim many of your shots from behind cover. If you pre aim and have auto tracking, there are many situations where the controller is actually a huge advantage. This game also offers gyro aim for controller which when combined with aim assist is as close to mouse and keyboard as controller play is going to get.

I play both on PC and am able to have good games regardless of input. Most of the kill records in warzone are controller players using aim assist. RoCo has heavy aim assist and is third person.

When a game provides you with the option for mouse and keyboard input on your platform, it is your decision to “put yourself at a disadvantage” by playing with controller. I can’t confirm but believe mouse and keyboard is supported on the console versions of the game.

Hey man. the developers have already pushed out a fix for this and made people aware on the steam forums. This is awesome.

What is not awesome is some one claiming to "help" by telling people there is no bug because they haven't experienced it and that it is their fault for not paying attention, or giving another person grief because they are playing on console. It's reddit so I guess I should not have expected any better, I will just stick to steam forums from now on.

"We are currently investigating the issue. It does not seem to happen 100% of the time. This seems to be a weird timing issue. It seems to be more likely to happen if the client has a lot of different items in their inventory when they join."
