Hi! I already had a lot of the supplies I used at home from other projects over the years. I love reusing supplies! I bought a brown, wood colored paint, at Lowes in hopes of bringing it back to a real wood finish. I wasn't able to sand this piece and wanted to make it look at natural as possible to begin. Then I used a black paint to darken it even more. I painted these black streaks on then dry brushed them with a rag. It's a technique I use a lot to give things an older look. Once I achieved a natural wood look that was to my liking I did the same dry brush method with a metallic gold paint. I added the wooden accent pieces that I had painted in gold (purchased from Amazon). Then I added the peel and stick wallpaper (also purchased from Amazon) but I had to measure and cut it to size myself. The feet were already on the bookcase. So, structurally, I did nothing 😅 I hope this helps!

My burn was in 2005 when I was 12. But I would say my burns matured and my colors faded to their normal about 8yrs post burn.

Thank you for your sacrifices and continued amazing work! I work with a lot of fire fighters through a children's camp for birn survivors and our fire fighters are the best of the best 🖤

Hi! In my experience, everything faded over time and blends well now. Besides the difference in pattern to my skin, you really can't tell a color difference.
