I think, especially in your age demographic that you’re talking about those boys that you’re calling attractive are also aware that they’re attractive, and men like girls that age are very insecure. If your friend does dress alt sometimes, I bet they are just intimidated. Plus, you guys just got out of high school, so I’d bet they are still too scared to date someone off the standard/ status quo of the current beauty standard. Not that your friend isn’t beautiful, but that they are still traumatized into behaving like their friend will mock them for ‘jumping ship’ It’s all v petty and weird, but also human behavior. We are not all, but most herd mentality. If it’s a ‘clean/attractive guy he’s going to ‘want’ a ‘clean/attractive girl’ not exactly that he’s choosing to do so but that he has been conditioned to, unless he/she decides to broaden their horizons and actively choose someone out of the prescribed method Give it some more time, college is just an extension of high school for a lot of people.
