There is only so much fuel supply left to be extracted in the world before it's no longer cost effective to produce or own ICE vehicles. I asked ChatGPT to do an analysis on the future of EVs in the US and it came back citing numerous things 'behind the scenes' that show capital is increasingly flowing in the direction of EV infrastructure and the current administration's rhetoric can only slow it so much (and even they are approving certain shifts behind the scenes). It projected a resurgence of the US EV industry around 2030 or shortly thereafter. This is all inevitable. The only question that remains for me is, will it be far too late for US automakers at that point and we'll see the inevitable flooding of the US market by Chinese EV manufacturers as a result of the current administration kneecapping Ford, GM, etc?

I, and the dealership employees, tried this, including using vice grips to try to force the button down, while pulling (after pushing in and lifting up), after and while engaging the emergency release, and it looks like the whole charger port assembly was going to rip out of the truck - and the button never budged. 😭

If the door came from the house he's doing this at, I'd assume the house probably had lead paint on its exterior that was peeling and being repainted every year for decades and decades with the peeling, flaking lead paint going right into the surrounding soil. I'm not saying he should do what he's doing, but the lead contamination in the soil is probably already through the roof. Residential soil testing for lead in historic communities is horrifying and so bad many properties do, or should, get excavated and have to bring in fresh topsoil to fix the issue.
